Barbara Bush in Houston:

"Almost everyone I've talked to says 'we're going to move to Houston.' What I'm hearing, which is sort of scary, is that they all want to stay in Texas. Everyone is so overwhelmed by the hospitality.

"And so many of the people in the arena were underprivileged anyway, so this--this (chuckling slightly) is working very well for them."

Yeah.....books.....Powells.....*drool*
madhyamika:
The stuff that goes on in that country renders me speechless. And to think I once contemplated moving there. I think I'll wait til they come to their senses and make Howard Dean president. frown

I finally finished reading 'The Neverending Story' yesterday. Did you know that the movie is only half the book? Sort of like the original film version of 'Wuthering Heights'. Now I'm debating whether or not it's finally time to read 'The da Vinci Code'. I'm told it's a good book for a good (former) Roman Catholic boy like me to read.

There was a massive...

I had very much fun finally getting to see boyinbrown and Colette79's band last night, even if my zonked out head took me to the wrong pub first. The highlight had to be the Drunk Birthday Man pulling Cai up to dance. I should have brought my camera. The tunes were really good too. I hope to meet up with all you guys again...

It was nice to meet you too! Glad you could make it to the right pub, eventually. wink tongue

Have a nice time at the lake!

Hi There

I just read your Sept 1st journal entry and I really wish that more people with the power to change things would feel like that. I don't know a whole lot about the US politics but I know enough to realize that it has definitely taken too long for "the powers that be" to assist their own people. It's shameful really.

I hope you have a great day at the lake smile

Lou Dobbs is a fucking idiot.

I hate this friggin' CBC strike. I'm stuck watching CNN all the time because of it.

I got rid of all of my tapes so I no longer have every "one-hit-wonder" from the 1980's.

I think I need to get out into the sun, packing up my life and watching the news is getting a bit much...hope you are having more fun. blackeyed

I just can't believe that things don't seem to have changed much from yesterday. I simply cannot believe it.

I've managed to calm down today by not watching any television coverage. I'm thinking, however, that my blood pressure may rise again very shortly when I sit myself down in front of the tv. Perhaps I should just watch a movie or two like maybe 'Angel Heart' or 'Cat People'. It's just a coincidence that they're both set in New Orleans. Seriously. Do you believe...

The type of anger that I'm feeling right now is the type of anger that results in destruction and looting and lawlessness and revolution.

It's caused by a helplessness brought on by frustration and disgust at government. Both my government at provincial and federal levels and the government in the USA. I'm disappointed in the American people for electing a man like George Bush twice,...

i THINK at around 10.
these shows are such a slapped together thing, im surprised they actually happen.
but any time between 10 and 2 we should be crammed up there on the 6 inch high stage.

The story?....Well...I'll tell you when I come to town.

It's just all so sad, isn't it? One of my dreams has always been to visit New Orleans. Will the city ever be the same as it was? frown

It's absolutely unbelievable. I had always looked forward to going to New Orleans myself. Now it will be years before it will be even close to what it was like before.....and as you speculate, maybe it never will be frown

It is very sad. Look at history though, Great things pass away all the time, even great cities. Carpe Diem!!!

Had dinner at Mama Mia tonight with a few of my family (only ten of us) followed, of course, by gelati next door on Corydon. It's weird to walk by Jenn's store and think that Jenn doesn't work there anymore.

My brother and nephew leave on Thursday, my nephew for Kingston to begin university at Queens, and my brother with him for a few days...

I lived in Winnipeg for 24 out of my 30 years of existance.

You went to Kelvin High Eh?! I knew who went to Kelvin over 15-17 years ago.

Winnipeg has a place in my heart but, it is still a thorn in my side.

I am arranging to a trip to see the folks for Christmas. Maybe we could have an SGWpg get together?

I'll let you know.

I guess you would have to be a bit of a perfectionist in order to have the job you have....at least in order to do it well I would think!

Oh man, I HATE stepping in kitty barf!!!! mad

I was thinking that it'd be sort of out of sight if I just made one journal entry for the rest of my time as a member, but kept adding more and more to the entry. I guess that would mean that I'd keep making more journal entries, but I'd fall to the bottom of everybody's lists, and you'd all think I'd stopped updating, but...

Who are you?

I am origionally from North Kildonan (Kildonan East High School Class of '93) and I have a Bachelor's Degree in Drama from the University of Manitoba ( Class of '98).

Who do you know in the theatre/film community in Winnipeg?
sluttygoodgirl:
I once considered a career in that direction....I enjoy the orderliness that it seems to innately demand....the columns and rows.

...and then, it just went away

We get it on most every night
When that old moon gets so big and bright
It's a supernatural delight
Everybody was dancin' in the moonlight

Everybody here is out of sight
They don't bark and they don't bite
They keep things loose, they keep things light
Everybody was dancin' in the moonlight

Dancin' in the moonlight
Everybody's feelin'...

I have a crap memory, I'm lucky if I can remember what I did last year!
I have never seen a ghost ( or heard, or felt) though apparently the hospital I work in has certain areas where weird shit happens. But I figure i have always been nice to all my patients so they have no reason to come back and haunt me! smile

I think I'm going to keep going out to the lake all Fall too, until we have to shut the water off. It's so much more relaxing for me out there, whether or not it's sunny. I worry about the Oz sometimes when I'm out there, that's the only problem. I don't know why. He has his food and water and all he does is...
