if you like black humor, you should chk out novelist Charles Willeford, he’s about as black as the inside of a goat. his most famous novels are about a Miami homicide detective named Hoke Mosley. there are 4* which are best read in order; 1) “Miami Blues” (there was a film adaptation of this, STAY AWAY!) 2) “New Hope for the Dead” 3) “Sideswipe” 4) “The Way We Die Now” He wrote MANY other novels and short stories, also there are two autobiographical books, “I Was Looking for a Street” about his childhood in Los Angeles growing up w/his grandmother, and; “Something About a Soldier” which is absolutely hysterical. I used to tell people that Willeford made Camus look like Walt Disney, i mean he is the existentialist of all existentialist’s!                                               * he wrote a fifth, but it was never published, alas.
