Hey everyone, hope you’re all well and good. Thank you for checking my blog out. No matter what blog it is, I’m glad yous are reading this and hopefully enjoy what I write. Well it’s a new year and 2019 will...probably be the same old lol. But it’s been not the best of years 2018 but for some it’s a good year. Especially for video games, tv shows, films, MMA (I love MMA), etc so there’s still good but also some shit lol. This blog is the mixture of those topics. So I’m going to start with the worst & end with the best. So let’s begin with the worst...
Also remember this is all my opinion. If you disagree that’s fine. I’m glad you like what I don’t. Just take this blog as a pinch of salt. Ok here we go!
Worst of 2018
Skyscraper
Anyone remember this movie? I almost did cause for me it was so forgettable. I except better from The Rock. I love him, he’s so awesome. So why’s his filmography is hit & miss. I love Central Intelligence, Jumanji Welcome To The Jungle, etc awesome films btw. But this one was 💤. It’s basically Die Hard without the personality. And it takes pride that it’s a Die Hard rip off. Kinda douchy imo. So yeah for me this movie sucks. The Rock can do better than this!!
Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom
What was the point in this? This is just a pointless movie to me. Feels was just made for the money. The story sucks, feels like it’s ripping off Lost World. Seriously it’s basically the same plot. And it wasn’t good when Lost World so why do it again? It really is just to make money. It was a pointless sequel like all the Jurassic sequels. Jurassic Park was awesome, leave it alone by these awful sequels. Yeah I’m not a fan and it’s not going to end soon since there’s a third Jurassic World. Well fuck that lol. I’m not watching it. I’m done. Pointless franchise imo!
The AAA video game companies being greedy
Now you asking yourself what is the AAA video game companies. Well that’s companies like EA, Activision Blizzard, 2K, WB Games, Ubisoft and Bethesda. It has been a crap year for those companies and they brought it to themselves. With their games becoming more like gambling machines than video games, the disastrous Diablo Immortal announcement, the rise of so many terrible Battle Royale games, fighting the gambling laws in Europe, dropping in the stocks, EA underperforming with Battlefield 5, etc. I could go on but I like to keep it short. It’s been a mess and they brought it to themselves for being selfish bastards trying to rip us the customers off. It’s sad and pathetic but it’s just the AAA companies. The Indie game & first party games are still awesome (more on that in the best). Just companies like EA, Ubisoft (even through their games are still awesome), WB games, 2K, Activision Blizzard and Bethesda has had an awful 2018 & it may get worse for them. Speaking of Bethesda....
Fallout 76
What the hell happened to Bethesda? They were so awesome and I was thinking about that E3 conference & how unbethesda it was. It was weird watching. Cause 76 for me sounded awful. And I pre ordered it, til I learned more about it and I had to cancel it since it sounded like a Fortnite game. Btw I hate Fortnite and the influence is having on the gaming industry for the worse imo. It’s basically Bethesda following a trend than themselves. Their was hints of it in Fallout 4 but it was still an awesome game. Fallout 76 was not. It’s broken, greedy, unfun, has no story, looks awful and it’s buggy as hell. I know Bethesda is known for having games that are buggy but it didn’t kill the gaming experience like with 76. It’s just a big disappointment. A lot of the big video companies are these days. That’s why I’ve been playing more retro games due to how it’s more greed over gameplay these days for some. But that’s my worst of the year. Not many since I’m more focused on the good. I know when things are about to suck. I do research since I actually have the time to do it. So yeah I was sad that Fallout 76 was shite. Cause I love Fallout so it hurt me in the feels that 76 was awful. But hopefully the upcoming The Outer Worlds (made by the same guys who made New Vegas and the original Fallout games before 3) will be the proper Fallout game we love. Looks awesome so far so who knows. Again it’s my opinion. If yous enjoy 76 & games like that, more power to you.
Best of 2018
Spider-Man PS4 & Spider-Man Into The Spider-Verse
Well it’s been an awesome year for Spider-Man hasn’t it. A kick arse video game and a kick arse animation movie too. Not bad Parker. The video game was awesome, loved everything about it. The story, the gameplay, the controls, the graphics, etc it was awesome. Made by the awesome Insomniac Games, ppl behind Spyro, Ratchet & Clank and very underrated Sunset Overdrive. It was a great game and I’m hoping they do a sequel. And the film was a surprise, I didn’t know there was a Spider-Man film til days before it was released. So took my nephews to go see it and it was as awesome as the game. In fact I think it’s the best Spider-Man film since 2. Full of character, great story, awesome animation and it was a joy to watch. So awesome. Don’t get me wrong I liked Homecoming but it wasn’t the best Spider-Man film to me. It had flaws but it’s still a good film. But I rather have Into The Spider-Verse over Homecoming any day. But whatever ur opinion is. You can’t deny that this is the best time to be a fan of the web swinger. Fucking brilliant!! 😊👍🏻
God Of War
You read that right BOY lol. Yeah God Of War kicks arse. PS4 is superb with it’s large library of awesome games like Spider-Man, Uncharted, etc. This game is my GOTY cause it’s my type of video game. Single player, awesome story, great graphics, awesome gameplay and no greedy AAA bs surrounding it. An EA douchebag said that single player games is dead. Well think again jackass. Single player games are alive and well. And it’s selling well so stfu EA. And why not God Of War is a true masterpiece. It’s reinvented itself and it’s more story driven. For the better. I do love the previous games but this one is the best to date. It’s flawless and it’s just a joy to play. I highly recommend it. Get a PS4. You’ll thank me. 😉 God Of War, my GOTY!
The Haunting On Hill House
A TV show in this one but it’s awesome one. I hear this from word of mouth by friends of mine. Like most of you probably. But it’s such an awesome show. Scary but more psychologically which is my bag. For the longest time I hated horror due to how predictable and poorly made a lot of horror films are. But imo the best ones are usually about the psychological and the unknown. It’s a fear of the unknown that’s scary. Not jump scares and monsters to me. I get more scared of characters not having a good ending & not knowing what is going on. It’s a puzzle you can’t figure out. That’s what this show does best. You care about the characters and are scared of what is happening to them. And here I thought it’ll be like that shit movie The Haunting starring Liam Nellson & Catherine Zeta Jones, awful film. I don’t recommend it. It’s a remake of a old Black & White Ghost movie which is awesome. That I recommend. But I recommend this show too since I hear it’s more faithful to the book it’s based on. But it is a great show. Superb story, great acting, awesome atmosphere and top notch direction. The Haunting On Hill House is a Netflix show you don’t want to miss.
Red Dead Redemption 2 (but in single player)
Yeah only on single player since the online imo is rigged full of loot box rubbish and it’s unfun imo. The single player part of Red Dead 2 is awesome. It’s Rockstar doing what they do best. It’s a rich detailed, lots to do world they built here in this game. I enjoy just exploring the world and finding hidden places. And it’s always so interactive. So much to do. And the story is great too. Arthur is the man and John kick arse too. A lot of interesting characters. I do feel the last part (don’t worry no spoilers) drag a lot for me and it’s got flaws in the gameplay. Feel the controls is a bit sloppy at times and there’s a lot of hand holding. Also it feels samey in places. But overall it’s still a great game. Still enjoy third eyeing in the shootouts, so badarse. Also plenty to do. And that’s in single player. Online however is pretty grindy on purpose so you can loot boxes it which is bs & kills that part of the game. But it’s still a great game despite that don’t get me wrong. 😉
Superhero films
It’s find to list all of them so I’m putting it into one. Besides Spider-Man since it’s in video game too. Superhero films in general are killing it. To Avengers Infinity War, to Ant Man and The Wasp, Deadpool 2, Aquaman and number of awesome Superhero tv shows. It’s definitely not dying out and I’m not burnt out from it like most. Since there’s always something that brings new life to it. It really is awesome. So many films and tv shows & more on the way in which I can’t wait. The superhero genre is kicking everyone’s arse.
Lot of great JRPGs
Yeah speaking of so many. It’s a great year for the JRPGs or the RPG genre in the video game world. To Ni No Kuni 2, Dragon Quest 11, Monster Hunter World, Yakuza Kiwani 2, Fist Of The North Star: Lost Paradise, Octopath Traveller etc all came out last year and there all well received games. All are JRPGs or have JRPG elements. It’s a great genre of video games to get into since it’s fun, engaging and bang out of your buck. Since their big game that’ll last you. And shows those AAA pricks that single player games aren’t dead. Their better and more popular than ever before. Also you save so much money too. Why buy more loot boxes than pick up one of these gems instead that’s so much better and it’s enjoyable too. Video games are supposed to be fun. Nothing of this Esports bullshit, it can suck it. Just sitting down from a hard day and plug in to a great game. That’s what it’s about. And JRPGs are definitely games worth investing in your time to!
MMA/UFC
A lot of long time readers of mine may know this but I love the sport of MMA. It’s been my thing that replaced pro wrestling with me since I stop pro wrestling on very bad terns as I hate it now. Have been for years. That’s a long story. But I’ve been watching MMA around 2008 and been loving it ever since. I respect the dudes & the girls that do it. It’s a tough sport. But it’s so exciting to watch. It’s been awesome this year. A lot of awesome cards, a lot of highlight reels, top notch fighters, a few dramas, craziest, etc it has it all. It’s more exciting than WWE/wrestling these days cause it’s real and you don’t know where it’s going. Everything in pro wrestling I’ve seen it before and isn’t good now. While MMA something is always going on and the cards are awesome cause the fighters are awesome. They put on great fights and looking forward to more arse kicking action. Boxing too, it’s a great year for boxing too so yeah it’s good times!
