So, I just recieved a rejection notice. It was a good letdown, though, they told me I was obviously "High Quality Work" but they felt that I wasn't marketable for their gallery. That's ok, praise helps, honesty helps, I much rather have a director tell me that they can't sell me to their clientele than to take my work and have it sit there. Reading between the lines though, and from what I know about that place, I wasn't friendly enough with them. I don't like playing that game though, I know I should, but I would so much rather get into a place that believes in me and likes my work than ass kiss my way in like some of my friends do. So, that's the fourth rejection this year, and I have shown in five different shows, two being solo featured artist shows, the rest being group shows, one of which was a juried exhibition, the rest being invites. I have sold out of two of them, and one is still hanging and I haven't talked to the director since it's been up, so I don't know how my sales sit right now. I hope I sold something, it's a mix of old and newer work, so I hope it plays wells.
I saw the debate last night. I'm so glad someone brought up embryonic stem cell research. I think it's something that needs to be persued more, and I have been angry at Bush since his decision was made to hinder that process. I believe whole heartedly that this can help save people, and I hope that the research can be opened up in the future. I was also glad that Kerry brought up abortion being an option for rape victims. I am pro-choice, and I am pro-choice simply for the fact that women get raped, by all sorts of nasty people too. I have seen too many woman impregnated by their relatives, it makes my skin crawl. I don't necessarily approve of woman who choose abortion as a means of birth control, mind you. But I have known many women who have chosen that path as an option and it has been mixed how it affects their lives. And I have also known rape victims who have kept the children from the assaults, and that has been mixed as well. I can understand why some people are pro-life, but I believe it's a decision that a woman should be allowed to make for herself, and I think that Bush is laying the groundwork to try and get the decision reversed. Just my opinion, I could be wrong. But I am glad that as a woman if I ever become pregnant I have a CHOICE to do as I feel is right.
I welcome the hate mail. If you have a problem with this, that's your choice. I respect you for it. But you are not changing my mind on this point.
I saw a bumper sticker yesterday about this very topic and it said "Abortion, what part of thou shall not kill don't you understand." I thought that was a gross assumption that every person on this earth believes in judeo-christian ethics. Now, I don't believe in killing, I could not do it, but I believe in having the choice. I don't think it's right to assume that the only thing holding people back from the thought of killing is that they can't do it because God may smite them. I think that people should choose the morally right path for themselves, and not because organized religion told them too.
I was raised Catholic, went to Catholic school until I was in seventh grade. I know the canons and the creeds, I know the beliefs, I just don't believe it. I can't believe it, never have. It was a hard seven years believe me. I questioned the whole time, spent the better part of the time in the principal's office and enduring scorn from my peeage. Believe me, I tried, I tried so I wouldn't be mocked. But I couldn't believe in Christianity.
Now, like I said before, bring on the hate mail....
I hope I didn't offend any of my friends

Two questions:
1. Why do you apologize for your opinions. It is your journal.
And of course a woman shoud be the one to decide if they keep the child or not. Hopefully this will become a no-brainer.
2. What happened to your Yahoo site. I really wanted to see more of your work.
If this is intrusive, please forgive me.
