Why does life have a way of playing catch up with you when you thought everything was going smoothly?
There he sat looking up at me like a hurt puppy dog. His eyes wet with tears, his hands clinched in a fit of anger under his crossed arms. I wanted to laugh in his face.
But instead I left the house key on the table beside his clinched body. Walking away from his sorted past into my sorted future was the best move I had made in a long time.
Walking to the bed room to get my already packed bag off the bed of lies we had made, I actually found myself smiling. Stepping over a pile of his dirty clothes I wondered if he took the time to pick up before he brought her to my bed. The past; I reminded myself as I kicked them out of the way. Picking up the photo of our wedding I spotted him coming in the room. Dropping the contents of the frame on the bed, I said "I always loved this frame."
"You don't have to be cruel" was his only response to me leaving him.
"You are still breathing, so I don't think I am being cruel." I said through clenched teeth as I made my way to the front door.
I was working on my story and found this opening to another story I wrote some time back. I thought I would share! I love this attitude, and lately find myself feeling like she did. Well not over my man, HE IS WONDERFUL
, but about life in general.
If you don't like me anymore, or want to hurt me good luck trying. My life is short and I want to enjoy it all. I don't have time for drama, or misguided anger. I only have time for the real thing!
