lol, I lost mine in the snow last winter. Found it several months later, an interesting relic of winter in the yard. It messed me up for a while, since it's my only phone, but it was nice, no calls from work in the middle of the night smile

Venturing sucks sometimes.

Went and saw Luna last night....

love love love love love love

They were fantastic! The only quibble I would have is that there was this annoying kid gooing Wooooooooooot right behind me the enire time and I had no voice to shout at him.... I felt like wacking him upside the head with my monopod, but I eventually resorted to silently screaming at him...it seemed to work! smile" Scary mute...

Hot tubs will rock and I've got member coupons toosmile

I've spent entirely too much money on toys from Madame S this week. Life will go on. Must stock up on good stuff while in SF...

I read an Encylopedia Brown story about drunken birds once. I don't think any of them died.

Those Cedar Waxwings do like to party. They make all kinds of noise.

You have no idea how good it feels to be done right now. I don't feel like anything's looming over my shoulder anymore. I can just get on with my life. Ah, the freedom!

It does sound like the 24-70mm f/2.8L is right up your alley, that would have been my recommendation if you've got the budget. Since you're doing PJ work, having the flexibility probably overrides sharpness/max aperture considerations. The Tamron really is pretty decent though, so if you can't spring for the L immediately you should consider it. Having a f/2.8 with the 20D is a great combination and in terms of the tradeoff in max-aperture you genuinely gain a stop over the 10D or comparable camera. I have absolutely no qualms about shooting in 3200, and push in RAW to over 6400 pretty regularly. I definitely recommend shooting RAW though, the 20D's JPEG output is pretty shitty in comparison.

As for toting around that much gear... I definitely think about it, but I don't really have any worries. Chapel Hill ain't exactly a high-crime neighborhood and people are very respectful of "real" photographers at the places I frequent. I don't carry around all my gear all the time - usually just three lenss - the 35, 85 and 135.
idjit:
Yeah, good luck - it's notoriously hard to get. You basically just have to place an order and keep your fingers crossed. frown

What I did was check stock with B&H and Calumet daily. I saw some stock come in at Calumet one morning, placed my order, and by the end of the day they were all gone! eeek

I got a screen play from my friend yesterday...I forgot how hard it is to read screenplays.. I have been to engrossed in novels... Its pretty good, though needs some changing, but of course my pal in the typical writer fashion e-mailed me as soon as I had gotten the script in the mail that he had already re-written parts of it... Kinda cute him...
