Yes, I made it to The Arnada Cafe on Friday for the Katrina fund raiser & saw some good bands. The first band, who was definately inspired by The Cure & The Plimsouls, made me very depressed & alittle suicidal, which I really enjoyed of course. They all played with there shoes off. biggrin

The next band kicked the sadness out of me though... it was like watching a band full of long-haired Jack Black's. I love people who don't take themselves so seriously. The bass player was very adorable & I got the vibe he was wanting to talk to me, but I thought that maybe my ego was getting the best of me & decided I was imagining it. My friend told me the next day that she had that vibe too & that she thought that him coming over like that, all awkward & smiling & asking us for a cig was really him trying to strike up a conversation with me. Stupid me. Oh well. He had really pretty eyes & that long hair... cute. I did find the band's profile on myspace quite on accident yesterday. Hmmmm.

Then Untyd played, who I was there particularly to see. My friend is related to the drummer. Well, the old bass player had returned because the new bass player had left. I was told that he had forgot most of the songs so that is why they had played such a short set. Which was ok because I hadn't seen them in over a year & I was just glad to see them again. Of course, Joel sang that damn song & I was back to a sentimental depression again. Damn you Joel!!!

I was outside mingling while the last band played. They seemed to rock pretty hard though from what I could hear. I am sure I will come across them again becuase Untyd wants to play with them more.

Most importantly is that I got there & was very comfortable & didn't experience much anxiety at all. I really like that place. The guys are so damn polite & everyone is layed back. It was like a gathering with friends.

Then on Sunday I went to a clothes swap in Portland. It was a plus size swap & I had 11 old plus sizes to get ride of. It was weird, I kept asking my friend if I looked fat enough to go. I have never felt like an oddball for being too thin. I felt like I would get weird glances because I have fallen out of the plus size category & here I was at a plus size clothes swap with plus size gals. I wore baggy clothes & just hoped to fit in. But, I now see that plus size girls are not like regular size girls & they don't judge you for being you. They had a bunch of normal sizes too though & I got just as many items as I brought & am very happy. I got rid of all my bigger sizes & replaced them with smaller sizes. Yay weight lose! I love slipping into a large shirt instead of a 3x... yo! Fuck it, I don't care if you know my size! Girls & their size secrets. I don't care. I am proud to have lost all that weight & if you have a problem with my large size shirts, then fuck you! biggrin

So, TWO social events in one weekend. Both times I socialized with ease. Perhaps I will slowly get better at this bullshit.

it's funny you dug the bass player because i was watching an old violent femmes concert and i kept thinking how the bass player was totally your type. I never think shit like that.

but too bad you didn't flirt with your bass player. tsk-tsk, you shoulda followed your instincts. i have a feeling that you'll get another chance though...
