Are slugs durring winter common where you are? Here in Albany the wildlife durring the winter seems to consist only of squirrels. I think I have a few spiders around the apartment. I have no idea what they are eating, not even the fruit flies like the temperature of my apartment.

Well there are two ways to explain why your dead pets show up in dreams. One is that you are thinking a lot about them and your subconcious mind inserts then there. This is the most logical, but least comforting. The other is that they are comforting you, or sending a message to you from wherever pets go when they die. This is the least logical, but maybe the more comforting, depending on the dream.
I've had many pets over the years and I still dream about all the pets that have died. Most of the time as if they never died but are still with me and that I am the age I was when I had them.
The only dreams of pets I have where I feel any guilt are the ones of the rabbits I used to have. My parents treated them more like live stock than pets, so when they got sick they wouldn't do anything about it.
