jaxy:
haha. thank you.

its retail though, and its pretty easy. specially since im the main boss, and i like things done my way, so i usually end up doing everything myself. the only real thing anyone has to do, is talk to people. that aint hard at all.

aww, that was...cute? and kind of weird. i'm trying to imagine them smoking a joint at a train station now...

my job quest almost had a happy ending frown i was signed up for my first three shifts and everything but the day before i was supposed to start i got a call saying that the girl i was supposed to be replacing had decided not to leave after all whatever it was sad. and now i'm back to square one blackeyed

Hi Knivey! So it's you then smoking outside my house! OK we have a deal tongue heheh but seriously, we have some real "interesting" characters in this town. Check this guy out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ben_Hana

His name is "Blanketman" and I pass him just about everyday in town. He worships the sun and removes his blanket when the sun comes out. God it's awful.

No I have never seen the Aurora, I think it is mostly in southern New Zealand where it is mostly seen? I'd love to see it though. All I get here is extreme wind and earthquakes frown

Note to clients:

When a lawyer tells you anything that involves a number, you must recognize that there is automatically built into that figure some random variation of a confidence interval. Or, said in a more prosaic fashion, the claim and the number have a high hooey factor. Lawyers can't help it, it's ingrained in their collective psyche and a basic element of their essence....

If you missed my last post about opening lines to songs, please check it out and comment. I got to thinking that opening lines is rather arbitrary - what might be more fun is opening verses. You get a better idea of the song from the first verse rather than just the first line or two. So here are just a couple of first verses...

Mh your comment is quite okay, thanx for your compliments blush

Nevertheless, "beau" means "beautiful" in french, but it's used for men. If you wanna say "beautiful" to a french girl, it's "belle".

(I'm your new french teacher biggrin)

"But even if I got the gender wrong, at least I got the thought right."

I was wandering through some music blogs and I came upon someone criticizing an effort at Spinner.com to list the best opening song lyrics. The Spinner.com list was generally pretty feeble (and had some mistakes anyhow), so the blogger listed some of his favorite first lines. I immediately saw that this was the type of thing that could go on forever, so I thought I'd...

knives2meatyou:
I agree, I could do a whole post just on Bruce Springsteen opening lines, like "Well, they blew up the Chicken Man in Philly last night" or "Lights out tonight, trouble in the heartland. Got a head-on collision, smashin' in my guts, man. I'm caught in a cross fire that I don't understand." Oh, and in response to an earlier comment, "Bird on a Wire" was written and originally sung by Leonard Cohen.
opaque:
that's interesting you mentioned that.. i often think about how the world would react to the disappearance of humans.

it would reach a natural balance again. i, too, long for the end of humanity (as morbid as that may sound..)

I am taking a page from Oubliette's book (so to speak) and letting you know about an auction I just listed at eBay. It's a very rare promotional version of Don Henley's CD "The End of the Innocence" that he signed. If you're interested it's at eBay. I'll post some other stuff in a while too, if you're interested/curious. Thanks.

Here's what it looks...

Another excerpt from my book:

A funny thing happened on the way to the airport. Desiree was obviously none too pleased with me, not because I went off and got laid but because, despite repeated warnings, my wayward penis and I had managed to jeopardize the mission. That guy's name wasn't Dimitri, she told me. I knew it! His name was not important, she continued,...
