the cooler doors that hold the import beers at jensen liquors in lawrence, ks are along one wall of a very narrow hall in the back of the store, just wide enough for the doors to swing open.
i went in first, then rob.
of course, newcastle was at the very end of the row.
i grabbed a pilsner urquell in a can, a big newcastle and a six pack of it as well, we were heading to the lake.
so i'm standing in what looked like the break room at the very end of the hall, waiting for ocd/adhd rob to pick out his beer for the night.
a very attractive woman came down the hall behind us.
she had shoulder length dark hair with a few gray strands, but i don't believe she was any older than i am.
she saw me standing there with my beer on the other side of rob and said 'what, are you afraid to get near me?'
'i'm not afraid of that, i just can't get around this guy' i replied.
then rob was done, she backed out of the hall, yielding to our exit.
as i passed her, without looking her in the eye, i said 'thank you for yr patience.'
she touched my arm, just below my shoulder.
yes, i know what that was.
i didn't turn around.
