1984 was good. I can't imagine it was an easy novel to adapt for the stage, but it worked well. The playwright wrote a good forward for the program, mostly noting how once upon a time, the President's message to the nation was "We have nothing to fear but fear itself." while the current message is "Be afraid. Be very afraid."

Third edition D&D came out in 2000. (That's the d20 version I was talking about, so called because rolling a single twenty-sided die is the primary way of determining a random result....previous editions used all sorts of regular polyhedrons. And every edition change has marked a substantial change in the rules, (except maybe the change between 3.0 and 3.5) but the difference between 2nd and 3rd is particularly large, probably because between the two releases D&D got bought by Wizards of the Coast and is now being worked on by different people. So yeah, it really has changed a lot, fairly recently. Though I suppose it still might've been third edition that you originally encountered.
