heheheh, Geocaching. It's basically semi-organized treasure hunting with a GPS. People all over the place, will hide a treasure box (or sometimes just a log). Then, they'll either post it's coordinates, or post clues which lead to other clues which will lead to the treasure. You can look up geocaches by zip code to find out what treasures are hidden either where you are, or where you're planning to be. Then go hunt them down! Once you find them, you sign the log. If there's a treasure inside (usually kids toys, but sometimes music cd's or other exciting stuff) it's YOURS to take. You just leave something else that someone else might find as a treasure. People hide these treasures all over the place. In cities, out on Jeep trails, hiking trails....everywhere. It's a good excuse to get out with nature and go on a treasure hunt!

Out of the 4 geocaches from that weekend, I only kept one treasure. It was a baby caribiner. One of the others with me kept a metallic bookmark, and left a hand held led dance light. I don't count too much on the treasures themselve. I'm mostly in it for the hunt.

I've found several hidden-away local parks that I never even knew existed. I've found some neat new hiking and biking trails. And it's just a darn good excuse for getting outside and simply being there.
