Thanks for the tag from my homeboy @sdawg74! I'll admit that I'm not the biggest metalhead in the world but I couldn't live without music so here we go!
1.) Favorite band/artist?
It would have to be Boards of Canada. I've listened to electronic music for ages now and discovered Boards of Canada maybe 15 years ago and they've been my favorites ever since.
2.) Favorite song of all time or recent?
I think it would be impossible to choose a favorite song of all time. Current songs that I've been listening to that seem to be on repeat for me would probably be Pacific 202 by 808 State. Other songs I've been digging would be Bonny from Prefab Sprout, Wait by Wang Chung from the To Live and Die in LA soundtrack, Elegia by New Order, etc etc.
3.) Favorite album?
Definitely Music Has the Right To Children by Boards of Canada
4.) First concert?
I remember going to a hardcore concert with a friend many moons ago when I was probably 13-14 years old. I only vaguely remember any of it though. My first actual concert was seeing Radiohead at the Blossom Music Center. Pretty solid concert!
5.) Last concert?
If we're not counting Cleveland Orchestra performances at Blossom, I saw Mogwai at Cleveland House of Blues when they were touring for the Rave Tapes album. Depressingly enough, that was in 2014. Guessing I should probably go to more concerts.
6.) Favorite concert?
Easy one to answer. The Police at what was at the time known as Quicken Loans Arena, now called Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. My brothers are I all went and we got nosebleed seats because we were all young and poor. When we sat down my youngest brother noticed that his seat by the aisle was broken so we went and got an usher and told him about it. The guy apologized and moved us to the lower portion of that section while they got some seats for us in the complimentary section. Right as the opening act is wrapping up, the usher comes back and moves us to our new seats and it's nearly front row. To top it off, The Police was on fire that night. The vibe is the arena when they played Wrapped Around Your Finger was insane. Easily the highlight of the concert.
7.) Who do you wish you could see live?
Maybe Severed Heads. That would probably be a strange concert. Or The The or Talking Heads.
8.) Being an angsty teen in the 90s, I listened to a lot of grunge music. MTV and local radio was about all I had so my musical tastes was mostly informed by what was available. I don't really listen to it anymore. My tastes have changed a lot as I discovered new stuff.
9.) How do you find new music?
Sometimes from here! Mostly from my brothers and falling down rabbit holes of music on YouTube. Some DJ sets have turned me on to some music I've never heard of before. The Mount Kimble DJ Kicks album was how I discovered Severed Heads and they're a top 5 group for me.
10.) How do you listen to music?
Almost exclusively on Apple Music. Sometimes on Youtube.
11.) Any new albums you're looking forward to?
Not really. It's been a long long time since Boards of Canada released the Tomorrow's Harvest album. There's been some chatter that they're working on a new one. If that is true then definitely that one. I'll probably get around to listening to the new Rolling Stones album eventually.
12.) Favorite soundtrack
It's a tie between the Trainspotting soundtrack or the To Live and Die in LA soundtrack by Wang Chung.
13.) Last one for fun, do you sing when you listen to music?
Embarrassingly enough, yes as long as I'm alone. I wouldn't put another person through that.
I'll tag the lovely @cheshire_, @lioncourt,@rare and @adam_bovary
