Practice was going great the other day until Andy showed us a new song that had a riff in it that was exactly the same as another one of our songs. Besides that it wasn't catchy on first play so I called it filler. Next thing I know is he's taking off his guitar and saying practice is over. I said "did I hurt your feelings?" he said a little. He was claiming his voice going was the reason but I think otherwise. Everyone left and that was that. I kinda feel bad still but I call 'em as I see 'em. He's an amazing songwriter pumping out catchy songs one after another. Hell, we played another new song that I was really liking. But I can't help but being honest, I just wasn't feeling it with the other one, especially when it was the same riff from "Lina"!

Cripes, is this the start of the ol' dreaded "creative differences"? Not every song is gonna be a hit. There's gonna be a clunker here and there. Luckily for this band it's few and far between. Maybe I was a little too harsh by ragging on it right off the bat. But I consider myself a fan myself. I'd sure call someone out on it. Oh well, I'm thinking too much on this obviously.

I just hope this isn't the death knell for this band. We had a lot go wrong the past year. From being ripped off by Cathouse Records to 2 failed mini-tours. And even going back into the studio which got everyone excited again has been mired with the mixing problems. "Generation TV" should've been done and ready to go by now. Now it seems we rarely see each other anymore due to work schedules. I miss "Sheckie movie night" or "Sheckie road trips". We just need to sit down and figure out where we're at and where we're heading as a band.

I think the problem is the other 2 want "too much, too soon". Instead of worrying about playing out of state gigs why don't we get more gigs out of county? There's other locations around South Jersey alone we could try. We should do that, practice at least once or twice a week, finish up the mixing of "Generation TV", and take it from there.

This band has gotten farther than any others I've been involved with. Playing the live gig at WFMU, people buying cd's and shirts not only here but worldwide, continued support thru the internet. No reason why we can't continue. Slow and steady always wins the race anyway right?
