There have been SO many mad crazy times in my life, and most of them happened in the company of my best friend when I was in my 20s and 30s. We were a very bad influence on each other.

This one time in particular we had all planned in advance after seeing a TV programme about owls, yes owls. The TV presenter was commenting on the fact that so many people thought owls make a "twit twoo" noise, whereas in actual fact it's "hoot hoot". Well this got us thinking, let's go do a survey and find out.

So we planned it all the night before, and on the next day we made our way down to our favourite drinking establishment, got our preferred seats, then took the bags we carried in with us to the gents toilets, where we proceeded to get changed, off came my normal attire of denims and a shirt, and on went a black velour thigh length dress, my mate opted for a strappy camouflage number. We put our walk-in clothes back in the bags and took them to the bar and asked them to keep them safe for us, the bar staff were used to seeing us do stupid things but I think this was one step too far for some of them.

So then the survey began, the bar was solid with bodies, Saturday evening and it felt like my whole home town was out drinking in this one bar. We visited every single table, every single drinker and asked them "what noise does an owl make?" Telling everyone it was a bet between the two of us. After talking to and being laughed at by hundreds of drunks we arrived back at our own seats at the bar, asked for our bags back and went to toilet to get changed back into normal clothing. Getting back to the seating a member of staff approached and asked us what the hell all that was about, we told her of the TV programme and that we had a bet between us, I said people were stupid when drinking and would say twit twoo, my mate said no one was that stupid and would opt for hoot hoot. Guess what, I won the bet. So the bar stewardess asked what the bet was, how much did I win? Surely we wouldn't put ourselves through that humiliation for nothing. It was very close to nothing actually, I won a single dram of Glenmorangie malt whisky.

The point of the day was not to do the survey, or win a bet, it was to have a laugh, and I must say that was one of the most hilarious days of my life.
