Hey kittens.

Lemme tell you something rad. (Pre-emptive arm punch to LateEdge for mocking my usage of the word rad. It's better than me calling things "pimp", which I also do.) On Saturday, I got together with one of my girls and she painted me naked. It was really great. We cut up a ton of really good fruit, cranked our girly tunes and I took off my clothes and got to the futon. She had three colours of oil paints (yellow, white and navy blue) and a six foot long canvas and she somehow managed to create a reclining nude that bares an uncanny ressemblance to me. She even caught the essence of my nipples. It was a really great and liberating experience. We started around 8 and didn't get to bed until around 5ish. The whole process made me feel really good about my body, just getting to relax and chat and snack on fruit and finish off the night by looking at a likeness of myself, thinking that it looked really hot. I guess if my likeness is hot, than the real deal must be smouldering. So, that's a definite ego boost. I have photographs of the painting, but I won't post them because the artist requested that they not be made public until she's secured her position with a few galleries. However, I'm totally willing to e-mail them if anyone wants to take a gander.

So, I've been accepted at all of my Canadian universities with varying levels of scholarships, including some seemingly full ones. I've been wait listed at Mannes and Curtis, but I'm alright with that since living in the US would be way too expensive for me to actually accept an offer, anyway. I haven't heard from Eugene Lang yet, but the same financial principle applies. I think I've decided to go to McGill University in Montreal for their classical vocal performance program. It's a great school in a great city with people I know with a vibrant culture and an expanding music scene. Besides, they let first year students audition for their opera company... Oh baby! I'm all excited. I've got some acquaintances in the music program there, and I've heard nothing but really good things about it. They generally accept about 5-10 people, so I'm going to be one of the only sopranos, if not the only one. That makes me feel damn special. I guess this means that I'm bound to become a full-fledged member of SGMTL.

Now, I present a list of careers that I would go into if it weren't for music:

Baker/Cake Decorator: One of my first jobs was helping out in a little bohemian-style bakery/cafe, so I've learned the finer points of eccentric cake decoration from an early age. Also, my mother is an awesome baker and had a way with cake design (which is showns off pretty well in an earlier post of mine with a picture of a young Claire at her Spice Girls birthday party), so it just plain runs in the family. I've become quite fond of finding images and sticking them on bamboo skewers sticking out of the cake along with chocolate drizzling and non-shedding tinsel. Also, I'm quite a fan of the all-night-bake-a-thon, as pioneered the time my girl and I stayed up ALL NIGHT baking hundreds of little pink cupcakes with gummi hearts and icing circles around them with a slash through them for Valentines day a few years ago. Besides, I make excellent cake.

Costume Designer/Cutter: Right now, I'm envolved in a show as costume mistress/assistant designer/general costume bitch. I really enjoy sitting around and sewing with the girls because of the iditotic gossip factor of performances, but I also love coming up with innovative costume ideas/solutions. My favourite thing right now is taking old grandma dresses and completely re-cutting them so that they drop waist/empire waist with full skirts and v-necked tube tops with puff cap sleeves. Needless to say, I'm making a lot of old-style children's dresses right now. I'm also coordinating a lot of pastel outfits for gentlemen and doing some more prop-ish costume pieces by experimenting with foam rubber carving. My all time favourite costuming assignment was a revue show that included a girl group in sequined mini dresses and a scene from "The Full Monty" for which I had to make six full suits that was 100% rip-off-able. Everything had to be cut and lined with velcro. Did I mention that I had a total budget of $100 and I came out with dough to spare?

Teacher: Yeah. I'd probably like to be a high school teacher, particularly if I got to teach writer's craft or world religions. Hell, I may very well end up becoming one depending on how my career turns out. That, or I may just hone my skills as a make-up artist and do that for a living.

Lately, I've been learning a ton of latin choreography, so I've been dancing on average 3-6 hours a day. Man, I am feeling so good. Also, I've been doing a ton of pilates as warm-ups... Or I've been bouncing around to "One Thing" by Amerie, which is defintely going to be the anthem for summer 2005. That song kicks my ass. Speaking of ass, I should get to bed because I have to wake up at the crack of ass tomorrow to do some decidedly less cool dancing on TV. I'm in Seussical, bitches. I play a slutty bird. No shit. Oy vey.
