I had a moment of panic a few days ago when I realized that my period was late, so I went to get a home pregnancy testing kit. Everything turned out fine, but those things are fucking expensive as hell. What gives? Especially when you factor in the cost of the items that you use to draw attention away from the very obvious box of Clear Blue that says "Pregnancy! She's loose! Slutboxorama!" all over it. It was a good chance to stock up on listerine, buy some fancy whitening toothpaste that I normally wouldn't get, indulge in some cherry Burt's Bees lipgloss and pick up a trashy magazine to laugh at celebrities.

I watched Lost in Translation last night and quite enjoyed it. It gave me a good feeling, and I got a bit misty at the end. The images were gorgeous, the acting was great and the premise was so enjoyable. The only reason that I couldn't see it becoming one of my favourites is because of it's lack of an unduely complicated plot, or all that much of a plot at all. I realise that the plotlessness flows with the rest of the cinematic elements and that it's kind of the point, but this is coming from the girl whose favourite movies have puppets or other childlike characters in them. I also love Woody Allen films a great deal, and those could be said to be about very little, so I guess I'm kind of contradicting myself.

Tonight was a very low intensity cooking night. I'm doing the hardwood floors in my room and dismantling my old dresser, so most of my time has been spent on that. Also, I went to a voice lesson and my teacher heard me singing non-classical for the first time. Company and Dreamgirls are quite strong contrasts to opera and art songs. Regardless, my sister and I got together and put a whole bunch of veggies (tomatoes, broccoli, celery, red onions, cauliflower, zucchini, green onions, garlic, regular onions, red pepper and a bunch of seasoning) together in a pot and made a nice stew-type thing. It's low fat as hell, full of vitamins and tastes SO good, considering that it only took chopping the vegetables and putting them in a pot.

I'm sure that you've all noticed by now that I'm big on food. I am SO big on food. Speaking of being big on food, I'm having a girl's night dinner party, and I'm making it a theme by cuisine and I've narrowed it down to either Indian or Thai. Either would be a completely vegetarian menu, and either is entirely possible thanks to my awesome Young Thailand Cookbook and my gigantic 800 page World Vegetarian Cookbook. Woo! I'm also thinking about baking a cake for the occasion. If you're going to pig out with your ladies, there might as well be confections, too.

Speaking of confections, I found pictures of my 12th birthday, which was Spice Girls themed. We saw Spice World, had a dance competition to the CDs and the cake was a mo'fuckin' union jack. Isn't this the sweetest looking cake you've ever seen?

I got all my cake decorating skills from my mum.

My ex from 2 back made me buy all condoms, tampons, and yes, one time a prego test for her. She'd sit in the car and wait because, "They know what I'm using them for!"

It was always good for a laugh. As for me, I'm the guy calling across the parking lot to her, "HEY! WHAT KIND OF TAMPONS?!!!!!"

Which could possibly have some to do with the whole her being an ex thing.
