Hey yay, I'm on someone's friend list! Neato! Anyhoo, I did a double take when you mentioned Marclay...I recently caught a show with DJ Olive, a simultaneous improv. While Marclay was certainly impressive (and his table skills are both visually and aurally pleasing) at the show, I came away more an Olive fan...maybe it just worked in context, as his contribution was a la minimalism more than bombast. Want a REALLY good larf? You mentioned Ondes Martenot, etc. Well, today in class, we covered the Beach Boys, so all of those unsuspecting undergrads were given a taste of "wierd". Soon we'll cover Stockhausen and the Beatles.

Been to any good installations lately? Do you get many in UT?

I had a friend who tought in Japan, and he said it was amazing. Can't say much more than that though. I'd make sure the company hiring you is reputable...

No joke. 24/7/365. its about two feet tall and some say there are things living in it... ive seen her on park benches and cruising down sunset... i wonder if there is a menorahead out there!?

I've had to exclude people from my life like that. It was hard. Given my druthers I would express myself by unibombing MTV, but due to legal limitations I think I'll go on expressing myself through words and playing pranks on my next store neighbors(did I spell that right?)

I do like avante garde jazz tho... I don't necessarily think that liking the one precludes enjoying the other. I think I will check DJ Spooky out. Have you heard of Hybrid? Some of their stuff is electronica with an orchestral backing. Not bad, if you axe me. Got any other suggestions?

I don't hate Singles, I just couldn't put it in my faves. I think Campbell Scott is a wooden plank and a lot of the corny jokes don't really work for me. I don't do Kyra either. I dig Matt and Bridget and that's about it. A lot of people love that movie though..so who's to say!
