My grandmother hasn't had a doctor for several years because her doctor retired, and she's been on a waiting list for one.
She finally got one a couple of weeks ago.
She was just diagnosed with colon cancer.
It could have been caught earlier but there's such a healthcare crisis in our province that she got fucked.

I think, stateside, we're often under the impression that doctors just magically appear for sick Canadians. As a student, I can't afford health insurance to go to a doctor. So I don't. But there's obviously a high human cost to universal health care, when not it's not universally accessible.
It's awful that decisions based on money, not the health interests of individuals, in both government and the health care industry so tragically impact innocent people like your grandmother. My heart goes out to you.
that she needs.
