Well, I spent most of the day in the quaint little town of Vandalia, IL. Yeah, I'd never heard of it either until today. Apparently, the flight school is looking into buying another multi-engine trainer, and we flew up there to look at one for sale. The terms "project airplane" and "fixer upper" definately come to mind.

The mechanic that went with us seems to...

So the Landing bar & grill kinda sucked. The 2 free drinks with dinner was the only tasty thing about it. Are ya coming camping?

Ever have one of those days when you want to heft your computer up and toss it out a window? Yeah, that's me. Granted it's a thin IBM Thinkpad laptop so it wouldn't take much to heft it.

I got it on Ebay earlier this year just to have something portable that I can take around due to my nomadic lifestyle. I just needed something...

So, can someone please remind me what a day off is like? I've forgotten. Good news is, I might actually be a competitive applicant at a few airlines (not big one) in about two months with the way I've been flying lately. I've got one full time multi-engine student and a few sporadic ones. That multi-engine time is what they like to see, so it's...

Yes, I have seen the DDR game. It cracks me up every time I see idiots on it biggrin Going to try to check out the Landing bar on Mon. night if I can talk one of my friends into it.

So what the name for your Cessna?
cicatrixsid:
Yeah, tonight is the grand opening. I was talking about the personal names given to your fav plane.

Okay, so when I took this whole flight instructor gig, I figured "Cool, I'll get paid to fly. I won't get paid that much, but it beats some of my previous jobs (*cough Disney *cough)." Well, if I have many more weekends like I'm having now, I might actually be in danger of making an okay amount of money.

I seem to have come into...

Congrats on the great weekend! I've cruised around in a Baron a time or two but, I'm still waitin for my ride in one of the big King Airs. love

I guess I'll just have to stick to "Bourbon N Swerven" on the ground for now wink Speaking of....when does the new bar open?
cicatrixsid:
What is DDR?

So, I officially have my first student that I think will never, EVER make it as a pilot. The kid's got the drive to do it, but he doesn't have the mental capacity or the skill. Flying around yesteday with him was the first time I've ever thought "Holy Christ, I'm gonna die in a flaming ball of tin on I-20!" I had to take...

Keep his ass out of the sky! I live off of New York and I don't want a damn Cessna trying to land in my back yard.

I'm not to afraid of a coke bottle here and there(well, they better be plastic bottles). My stepfather used to throw cats out at a couple hundred feet back in when he was in high school. miao!! puke

So that LANDING BAR, sounds kinda cool but kinda scary at the same time. Its hard enough to dodge drunks on the road wink

Hmmm, which is worse as far as weather goes, Texas or Florida? Well, both are hot as fuck. Texas only has semi-humidity whereas Florida has "walk outside and immediately have your clothes sticking to you" humidity. Florida has habitual t-storms in the afternoon, but they at least cool everything off for a while.

Right, now I'm not sure. Although sweating my balls off at 1,600...

Holy shit, I almost got fucking KILLED today by a student.

So, I'm teaching landings to this guy that's never flown before. I tell him "LIGHTLY put your hands on the controls so you can feel how to land the plane." So, we're about 100 feet off the ground, and instead of LIGHTLY holding the controls, he's got them in a goddamn DEATH GRIP. I...

Okay, FINALLY moved down to Arlington, TX and am gainfully employed teaching people how to fly airplanes.

It's kinda slow right now, but I'm starting to get a steady stream of students coming in the door. They range from people that want to do this for a living to the absolute bizarre. The other day, I had a guy wander in off the street and...

Ya know what sucks? Looking for a place to live on-line when you're hours away. Not like 2-3 hours, more like 7.

I'd like to be able to check out any apartments that I would like to live in some way OTHER than pictures taken by marketing people and posted on-line.

It's damn near a moot point, though. I really don't have the money to...

Well, found out today, I've got a job!

This will be my first official job where I get paid to fly, or at least teach other people to fly as the case may be. Right now, I'm hanging out in Tupelo, MS (about an hour south of Memphis, TN), and I'll be here until about August 8th. They told me to come on down sometime...
