Journals from vacation. Part one.

On the road right now. Some African guy at the gas stations held the door open for Shannon and I when we returned from the restroom. I cannot believe how terrible that gas station smelled and how much pollution there is in the world. Smoke is billowing out of some distant trees. That makes me sad. It is starting to rain now and it's not particularly hot outside. "But I guess this will have to do now." I just wrote a note and passed it to my mom in the front seat and she called me a weirdo. I miss my Matthew and cats and Suicide Girls already. I think we have something like another seven to eight hours to go before we reach our destination. Franklin, PA: two miles. There's an Arby's on Exit 29. Mmm. My mom said a prayer out loud when we got in the car today. It warmed my heart because she usually doesn't do things like that. We didn't get off on Exit 29. That makes me sad like the pollution makes me sad. Are we there yet? "In savoring sleep, what do you mean I toss and turn everywhere?"
Now for some road trip prose. Or something...
Arrows Pointing in Wrong Directions
Today is tomorrow faster than I'm sorry, and we steer shy of blatant confrontation as we pass each other on the streets. I have a tendency to remember and you push everything to the surface -- I simply cannot listen anymore. The sound is too loud and you are absent once again so I endure alone. This week is last month sooner than I reason, and we dissolve our concerns with the movements of our arms and legs. I have a fault of inventory and you clear out the basement -- I can hardly sleep anymore. The inspiration is too lazy and you are talking about yourself again, so I sit and absorb. This letter is a novel far more interesting than I.

We arrived to a damp and dreary Rhode Island last night around eight. It's safe to say it's about a 12-hour drive from Ohio to Rhode Island. My dad got lost, however. My mom was tense the entire drive. We got our motel room, which is nice. It has a kitchen with a fridge and sink and stove and a living room with three sofas! One of them is a rollaway bed, and Shan and I slept on that last night. We had spinach and feta cheese pizza at "our" pizza place and we said hello to the dark and lonely beach. Then we came back to the hotel and mom went to bed. She was sick. Shan and I watched TV. Craig and Conan and Jerry Springer, which they show at like one in the morning around these parts. Shannon went to sleep but I stayed up a bit and read The Perks of Being a Wallflower by flashlight. Shan and I slept until noon, and when I went into my parents' room to ask them what time it was, they were arguing quietly about something credit card-related. I eavesdropped and apparently my mom used it. A lot. Like $3000. And my dad was so worried he started crying. Shan and I gave him a hug and he said he would tell us later. I'm oblivious. When my parents headed out for the market, Shan was talking to me while I was naked, shoving a contact in my eye. The lady that cleans the rooms walked in and gave a million apologies, and I'm pretty sure she saw my breast.
My left one. Maybe more. Maybe the door was in the way. Now we are driving to Boston to shop even though I have no money. It's supposed to rain so it looks like we aren't going to the beach. So it goes. I miss Matt.

"So once again I swim in reverie without your love." Yesterday at the mall in Boston I bought Matthew and Jessica small gifts at Spencers. I also bought a pack of colorful tube socks at some store whose name I can't pronounce. At that same store I begged someone to buy me a pair of orange high-top Chucks, and my mom gave in. I guess they are my birthday present. I am fashioning them at the moment. Shannon and I went into FYE and she bought me a copy of In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth:3 with a free live Coheed CD! I already have this album burned, but I couldn't pass up this great offer. I also got a used copy of The Science of Things by Bush, and a Duran Duran album from '92 with "Come Undone" and "Ordinary World" on it. Afterwards we all went to Chili's and had a good ol' fun family dinner free of quarrels. It was nice. Shannon and I both got this godly chocolate chip brownie dessert thing. I got really tired on the ride back to Rhode Island and fell asleep. Shan, dad, and I watched some late night telly and although I was not THAT hungry, I decided to take advantage of having a stove in the motel room, and I made myself a fried bologna sandwich. I didn't sleep very well last nigt. Today we are going out to breakfast and I'm going to try to find some postcards and send them out. We are also going to some casino and maybe to the beach and out to dinner. This is my last piece of paper. Mom is now trying to wash my scorched bologna pan.
To be continued when my fingers aren't tired...

heheh well acctually it works like this ... me and this girl used to know eachother for a while back in the day... good friends for like a week.. then communication sorta broke off for various reasons and then I saw her in that CD store nearby and was like woah what the eff. and she didn't say anything but equally I didn't either .. and so I want to find out if she remembers me if she cares at all since we were pretty close for that whole ... week. but then it was in rome so how could you forget that. I don't know its very confusing.
