Judging by my interests, hobbies, and (lack of) ambitions, I clearly missed my true calling as the ne'er-do-well son of a doting oil billionaire.

If you're not hot enough, it doesn't really matter how well-shot and original your set is.

We made homemade fish n' chips tonight. Some beer/flour battered tilapia and french fries. Totally cut our own potatoes, made our own batter, cut up our own fish! I think I broke every safety rule for frying ever -- frying with a quart of canola oil at 375 degrees -- using a probe thermometer to attempt to control the temperature -- in just a regular...

Listening to Hawkwind (who once released an album called Doremi Fasol Latido) the other day got me thinking about album titles, specifically bad ones. Bad album titles are interesting to me because of the disconnect between the amount of time, effort, and talent it takes to make a good record -- and some of the records listed below are undeniable classics -- and the...

Since you are one of the few Springsteen lovers on this site I am curious about your take on The Killers' new album, which is so Boss-influenced (sorta filtered through U2, I guess). For some reason, I am fascinated by that record. It is clearly flawed and I don't buy Brandon Flowers' current image any more than I bought the last one. However, common sense notwithstanding, I still greatly enjoy about half of that album. Also, they appear to be about the only group with memebers under 35 years old that still wants to be rock stars. I actually can't remember the last rock "event" record (maybe Stadium Arcadium). Normally, these days they are all rap, or teen pop or R&B, etc. Sam's Town is clearly no Darkness on the Edge of Town or Joshua Tree, but I think it may be as close as we're gonna get in the year 2006.

Been pretty sick this week. Started last week, but caught up with me Wednesday. Called in sick for work that day, but came in the next day. The Vice President of my department heard me coughing and sent me right back home -- call-center, you definitely don't want anyone giving everyone a lung bug. Anyway, went to the doctor today, he said I have another...

I'm not very happy right now. My wife's out of town until Saturday, and has been since Sunday, so I'm fucking lonely. I miss her so much. I've been in training all week at work, and my head asplode. The dog destroyed the hallway carpet in one day while I was gone, so now I have to crate him and rush home at lunch to...

Don't sweat it.

In all actuality, I just think alot, and my thinking pattern works hand in hand with written communication. I got this from my dad - he's a phenomenal writer in two Filipino dialects and english. I average about 4-5 minutes per comment, and I max myself out at 10 minutes. If someone's journal really makes me think, I'll take some time.

But really, I don't expect to start some kind of grand discussion. I just birth all these thoughts and rather than abort them stillborn, I leave them at the doorstep of people's minds. Maybe those thoughts'll get adopted, maybe they'll die of exposure. And I'm alright with that. Survival of the fittest, and all.

Firstly, I'm not sure that the solution to Iran is a military one. An all-emcompassing international isolation of the country would be better.

Secondly, even if the preferred option is military, I don't see why it has to be down to the Brits and Yanks.

Because Russia, Germany, France & Kofi Annan's son had secret deals with Saddam, it was down to us to enforce UN regulations in Iraq and clear the threat Saddam's dynasty posed to our collective future.

Why should we also pay for Iran? Let French soldiers die this time. Let German tax payers foot the bill.

Of course they won't...which means inevitably, Israel will have to bomb Iranian nuclear facilities and the world will have mutual scapegoat to moan at (and be secretly grateful to, at the same time),

So, regarding the job I was telling you guys I applied for last week. I got another call-back yesterday, and went in for an interview this morning. I felt that the interview went as well as could possibly be hoped.

The interviewer took me on a tour of the building, which is very interesting -- their server bank doubles as decoration, its twinkling lights sparkling...

_sarah_:
I got my job because I contacted my interviewer the next day. Shalome is right.

Also, a tour and so on is a Good Thing. On top of THAT, you did a very good thing putting your WoW character on there. It's a hint in every "get a job" book (stand out somehow). My friend prints her resume on special paper and always mentions her job experience in Ireland. She also wears a cat pin during interviews. She's had people say, "We remembered you because of that pin." smile
theslant:
Good luck on landing that job. Perhaps they threw in that "don't call us, we'll call you" bullshit so they can keep you from getting too cocky.

I've had a similar experience that helped land me a job. I used to play bass in a band. My potential boss played drums as was looking for someone to jam with. And voila. We never got the chance, since I had to get back to school. It would've been a hoot, though, since he was no stranger to hijinks with his old evil circus goth marching band band (complete with fire-breathing flag girls!).

Sorry for that long ass comment on your lass journal. sometimes I go a wee bit crazy when a thought grabs me.
