In the hollowness of a courtyard
veiled stars and huddled birds
tantamount mind you, argue a hard
morass of fog and cloudless words
I forgive you your happiness
tender and sweet you, my gone away love
Yes, forgive that delight, but I'll not place it above
this mellow trepidation and stillness
and the art we made of it together
Yes, I shall not measure the tear 'gainst the smile
Against the dark the light shall have no gain
and though in light's presence dark may appear,
a loss, and in health there be no pain
Even the eyes of the desert speak no fear
that there shall never again be rain.
So shine! Shine your light! The day will last a while
As for me, I shall consider it a draft as I drink it
I'll not attach a thought to myself even as I think it
I shall shake my fist at the Sun and curse the Moon
In equal measure fortune and poverty wound
In sight of the eyes, the rub of poverty soon
with a bludgeon -- a blow to stagger
Fortune's villain, for the spine a dagger
As for me, no longer be I as I may,
my season has turned.
I'll slough off the names of this night I have learned
and call it a day.

I tried my hand at poetry a couple times because my ex wanted me to but I thought mine was all crappy.
You have to have inspiration to write, not a significant other wanting you to
