Danger, a steaming piss-load of hate is about to come out.
OKLAHOMA CITY FUCKING SUCKS!!! Matt and I went to see Sleater-Kinney/Pearl Jam tonight. First off, 75% of the GOD DAMN FUCKING CROWD DIDN'T EVEN START COMING IN UNTIL SLEATER-KINNEY WAS DONE, so the place was way more than half empty. Second, they ROCKED THE FUCK OUT. They fucking RULED, and the applause they got would be EXTREMELY GENEROUSLY described as half-hearted. The only times they got huge applause were both times they said the words "Pearl Jam", and when they played a cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Fortunate Son". The audience was so fucking bad that they actually said "Ok, guys, we've only got a few more songs left." WHAT THE FUCK!!!
When I got home I actually called Carrie and left a message on her machine apologizing for this city. I'm serious. I was so pissed off that we fucking left before Pearl Jam played, I couldn't stand to be clapping along with that ape-drape crowd that looked like every fraternity and sorority in Norman bought bulk tickets.
GOD FUCKING DAMNIT. I'M SO EMBARASSED.
Addendum: Matt and I agreed that the closest analogy to the response they got was the sort of applause a local band would get when they played the state fair.
One of the absolute greatest bands in the world, and this is how we treat them.

hellkitten:
Shit! That's awful hun. We've all heard of audiences that've been off, but that's rediculous. Sometimes I want to line everyone up and smack them all. arg...
wated:
Most people are idiots with no taste....what can you do though, apart from shouting at them and calling them maggots?
