One year as a member of Suicidegirls, eight months since I did my first interview, with Sleater-Kinney, in January. biggrin What a year!

The Sleater-Kinney article was my first professional writing for anyone, ever, and I kindof laugh at how my methods have changed since then. I listened to every single Sleater-Kinney album a million times, taking notes. A week before the interview I had...

The cat dropped the rat between its two front paws. "There are those," it said with a sigh, in tones as smooth as oiled silk, "who have suggested that the tendency of a cat to play with its prey is a merciful one--after all, it permits the occasional funny little running snack to escape from time to time. How often does your dinner get to...

I'm super nervous about the Gaiman interview. I know I've talked to some big name people before, but never one with fans quite as rabid. As George Lucas could tell you, you don't want to raise the ire of geekdom. Plus I just love love love Mr. Gaimans work.

Have read 4 volumes of Sandman in the last two days. American Gods is next, and...

I would be twitching in my seat over talking to Neil Gaiman for any longer than 20 seconds, so I most definitely feel your pain. You must find time to read all of said works, even if it's not before the interview. But by all means, if you have any problems, let me know, I've got millions of questions for that man in my head. Right now, once again, I am just thanking goodness that it's you and not...yeah. You know.

Yeah, I'm done with the boards. I'll just stick to journals for a while and the comments on the Words articles. The boards are making me sad, this once holy place being invaded by the pod people. The quiz takers, the hey-baby-wanna-hook-ups, the to-the-nth-degree-repeats-of-threads-that-were-lame-the-first-time, bitching, whining, this sucks, that sucks, ugh. It didn't use to be like that. What, did SG rent an ad on...

I stand in lights dawn, and call the darkness to arms,
knowing that the forces arrayed in languid pallor and shadow,
possess the greater number.

I stand in lights dawn, feeling the arms of the wind
and the sea; awake to glorys victory!

I stand in the fields, I stand in the grass and the wood.

I invoke the Names, I call forth the Powers,...

Goddamn, that is excellent! Shades of Walt Whitman in there... and Lord Byron, methinks.

There exists in every heart an undercurrent; that malicious tow toward wickedness, which awakens in the formative years as manifestations of cruelty toward classmates, lovers, parents. We are led through bitter experience to a realization of the sharpness of words, the ways in which the clever use them to conceal, to exploit, to wound, and which the dull may use to blunt, and to bludgeon....

I wasn't calling the whole of SG members "weird bastards", just the ones that would cause trouble. Also, your Smurfette comment brings back the memory of that nice scene in "Donnie Darko". If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about.
dave_h:
ha thats funny what stasi wrote about the smurfette scene.... a quote in my journal a few days ago from that scene: http://suicidegirls.com/members/Dave_H/130508/

I want to do more interviews. People that are more successful than me always make me want to work harder.

I like the Bangs interview. Once again, you have proven me right. wink
Oh, and I loved The Things They Carried. It made me cry.
