I have difficulty trusting people too. Mostly because I've trusted a lot of the wrong people. So, I make it a point to hold off on saying anything too intimate to someone I don't know that well. For that matter, I often avoid even telling close friends that much about myself. I believe it's best to just save somethings for therapy.
