I think we need categorize books by genre. First of all it will be Russian classic! I guess it's the best theme for first time, cuz I know about it more :)
When I was a little girl I LOVED READING! I always made all tasks about it, read "summer literature", write loooong essays every time and memorized verses. Btw, I hate verses and if you want to devote a verse to me, please don't :)
What about Russian culture? If you love classic, I can recommend to you some authors. Or not? What do you love? It's difficult, haha :)

- Fyodor Dostoevsky
- Mikhail Bulgakov
- Vladimir Nabokov

Mmmmh of those you cited i only read i think 3 by fëdor (idiot, crime and punishment, letters from the underground but i think i never wven finished it). I just cant read novels despite all my efforts :/ ive read however every single book, essay or letter by politkovskaja (italian or english) and a ton of essays or travel books about russia by the cream of the unbiased free journalism (kapuściński, terzani, gorecki and jagielski on top) 😊 does it count @karanlit?
