BLOG HOMEWORK: first tattoo

I get so many questions about my arms and collarbones. Is it tattoo? Is it scarification? Is it body art? What is it? How did you do that? So, I'll tell you a little story about my first tattoo, which grew into a major project and isn’t complete yet.

Once upon a time I met a wonderful artist. She quickly sunk into my soul and I decided to get acquainted with her works.

In one of her albums I found a photo of her body art: she painted the girl's collarbone with thin light patterns. They looked like a neat scars or fragments of a lace. It looked really cute and unusual. It was then that I realized what I want to see on my own body. I didn't have any specific plans, I just wanted patterns.

It turned out that to find an artist who will undertake to work exclusively with the white pigment would be difficult. After much searching and a huge amount of negative comments towards my idea, I finally found him in my city. Thus, I get my first patterns on collarbone, passing on the left shoulder.

After three years, I flew to Moscow to make the left sleeve. This time it was not just the patterns, it were lotuses in the Chinese style. A few years later I moved to St. Petersburg and here I did the right arm by filling it white peonies in the Japanese style. I love these flowers, and I hadn’t much thought about it. I have a lot of admiration to my last master, because he’s not just a professional, but also a good man who understood and took an interest in my idea.

Like any other tattoo, white tattoo, requires corrections and care. White pigment is very capricious and loves «to drop out». Also, there are some details in the process, so that it doesn't get a bluish or greenish color. Therefore, one session for a good result will not be enough. In addition, if you are not the owner of a pale skin, as is contrary to popular belief, the tattoo will not be white.

No - they don't glow in UV light. No - on tanned skin, it doesn’t look like contrasting. No - the sun doesn't makes it lighter! No - it doesn’t stay white forever. Everything exactly the opposite: the darker the skin - the darker the tattoo, the more sun - it’s more yellow, orange or brown.

My tattoo isn’t finished yet. I conceived to a great project and plan to complete it within a couple of years. But for now, I will not disclose all the thoughts on this subject ;)

Thank you @missy and @rambo for this theme ♥
