According to everything I've read, most have a 30-50 year life span. Emotionally and attention-wise, parrots are much more of a commitment than a cat. But as far as the feeding, traveling, going on vacations, etc. side of it, I think parrots are much easier. Who knows...most of my friends think I'm a freak because I think a parrot is a better pet than a dog, so maybe my opinion is skewed. 
my boyfriend's boss gave us a 7 night stay at a condo on kauai. it's supposed to have it's own private beach. we decided on going at the end of april. i think this might just be one of those too good to be true thingies. we'll see.

I haven't had any red meat or pork since 1997. Sometimes I miss a nice rare stake, but other them that it's not that big of a deal.
