Chechen fighters did a theater siege in Moscow in October 2002... it was one of the biggest terrorist events after 9/11. It was a big deal, allot of Innocent ppl died, and the russians got allot of blame for not releasing information on what gas they used to subdue the Chechen terrorist, so many died because doctors didn't know how to treat the patients from the theater.
My point being that russian soldiers have been under attack constantly ever since then, in that country, they are there for a much more legitimate reason then we are in Iraq, and dealing with the same sort of insurgence. But they tend to get no news coverage, well except today. If anyone reads the news you already know what I'm talking about.
ok so I've posted allot of politics lately and heavy handed stuff, so I promise something fun next post... no really I PROMISE!
