I do not think there is any finer cereal on this here continent than Acme's 100% Natural Oats & Honey granola. When I was being raised by my exceedingly health fanatic momma we had boat loads of this stuff. It was like a Heavenly treat in the midst of plain rice cakes, no sugar or meat or salt or ANYTHING that tastes good food assortments (not to mention the 12 vitamins we were each forced to gulp down every morning). I am enjoying a bowl of this hearty goodness as I type which means that my momma must have gotten through because I still pretty much follow her guidelines for eating all these years after the fact, complain as I did regularly. This gives me hope that as much I witness my daughters increasing annoyance with my personality in general on a daily basis, this shit might actually stick with her and shell become the remarkable woman I know she can be. Its so bizarre to interact with her at this ageI think because she is at a point in her life where I can remember in vivid detail my own experiences and personality and feelings from that time. Up until now I was her everything and could do no wrong - I remember that age where I felt adults were just plain exasperating. Its funny to watch her exasperation as she shakes her head at my terribly tragic uncoolness. I have tried reasoning, Hey! I am hip you know! I have tattoos dammit! We partied like (and with) rock stars! but this only leaves her nonplused. Tres pass you know
But she loves me. And she tells me so all the time. And I am so impressed and touched by the little person that she is that I dont really even care all that much that I am the epitome of UNhip when it comes to getting down. Taking her to school every morning is one of my most favorite things to do with her. She is at her most alert and always enthused about the oncoming day. We talk in such an in-depth manner on the 20 bus ride and walkshe has a marvelous insight and wit about hershe changes my perspective about 10 times a day - and that of the others around us who eavesdrop on our morning discussions and laugh with us or in many cases, look for ways to engage her in conversations of their own. She was just recommended for, tested and accepted into her schools gifted program. Blah blah blahI drone on and on and on. I am just so damned proud is allof our entire family. We have endured some heavy shit in our varied and separate lives and to have come together and ended up here is nothing short of miraculous. We are blessed.

Anyway - I am working at home on Tuesdays and Thursdays for only days and then I am supposed to be resting. I have real trouble just staying still. But I am so wiped out I really need to make myself do it. This little guy completes the pack. I have had a conversation with him recently. It went something like this, Sebastian, you are now properly cooked. Now you are just packing on the fat which, lets face it, is only going to make pushing you out of me that much more difficult. I have read all the newsletters for the week and they have all informed me that you are quite welcome to come out at any point now. So how about you chew on that for a bit and get your little ass out here? Thank You. The Mommie I really cannot wait to see that beautiful little boy in his fathers arms.

Le sigh

oh, lady, i am so excited for you!!!! i had a similar conversation this week with little sophie (sebastian and sophie... hmm...) - something along the lines of "i'm so very proud of you, my little fishie, for making it to statistical viability. everything from here on out is gravy, so you just keep on keepin on, chica." sort of like the line from that morphine song: 'yeah, i'd like to see a little more fat.'

kudos and good thoughts your way. can't wait to see the kiddo!!!
