In 1915 - this was the block I now work on - it hasn't changed much - little less cobblestone - little more asscrackas walking the pavement - but mostly intact. I love that about our home and the job I am engrossed in - that we can touch history - physically feel it - and grow up from within the walls of the city - from underneath and in between - rather than just sitting on the sidelines complacently watching the cabbies and Septa drivers and bike messengers battle it out. Fuck them - this is our history in the making now.
