I don't remember the last time my alarm clock actually entangled itself into my dreaming - but it happened this morning- it was odd...makes the act of waking up somewhat surreal...
Countdown on...6 more days until we move....
"I hope it is true that a man can die and yet not only live in others but give them life, and not only life but that great consciousness of life." ~Kerouac
I worry some days about the pathetic life that has become this man's - whose home we are finally leaving - sad, lonely, bitter...living in the same music, routines and headtrips that he has for the past 30 years...but he willed it that way...and he lost a friend, among so much more, in the battle.
"Houses are full of things that gather dust." ~Kerouac
For every move, we toss away the pieces of our collective past that are mere symbols of our memories...holding onto them feels redundant...my mind holds onto enough without visual reminders...
"Our battered suitcases were piled on the sidewalk again; we had longer ways to go. But no matter, the road is life." ~Kerouac
Seeing those scattered symbolic replicas of our history lying by the curb amidst broken bottles of malt liquor and shards of poverty stricken late night neighbor's lives seems more than fitting...it seems necesarry...
