I called Animal Control for both Oakland and Berkeley. So far, I haven't been notified of any deceased animals fitting her description. Going to take my truck to work tomorrow so I can drive down to one or both of the shelters during lunch to see if she got picked up.

... somehow I don't think it'll be that easy though. But wish me luck, please. (Or if you have advice or a story on how you found a lost pet, that's just as encouraging.)

We've searched the neighborhood a few times by now, with treats, mag-lights, on bicycle, on foot, with another one of our cats and without, searched for her solo, searched for her together, sang every Chocolate song we knew she knew. Posters are up all around our street and surrounding block.

I just don't fucking know what else to do. And I just CANNOT "wait it out." Cats disappear and reappear all the time, yeah. But I'm telling you, it's not like her.

Not surprisingly, I'm having a hard time staying on the positive side of things this week. I'm just so afraid she's hurt or sick. That shit fucks me up more than most human dramas do. Oh man, I just can't get into it, so I guess I'll stop.
