A petition is a poem
And a poem is a petition

Georges Fontaine, 1966

....i got completely and utterly absorbed in Betrolucci's lastest film, it is such a beautiful lucid floaty film with such glorious colour and sensous cinematography that it is like entering another world.....it is fine example of liberated cinema as the three characters immerse themselves in a beautiful reality far detached from the riots and all the commotion that was going on in Paris in 1938, and all the beautifully shot nudity combined with one of the best soundtracks I have heard for while just blew me away...the likes of The Doors, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin to name but a few makes it utterly beautiful....and it is fascaintingly erotic exploration of sexuality...and the characters are all brought to vivid life by the actors.....i love it how so many of my favourite New Wave French films are referenced in such an inventive way, especially Band a Part, when they re-enact my favourite scene.....

...so yeah a beautiful film with mullti-layers and makes a point about human existence and what not...defintely check it out if not only for the visual poetry that Betrolucci is such a master at.........

....been watching lots of great films lately, its been great fully into that movie re-watching mode....my friend who is leaving to go back to HongKong for the festive season just recieved her copy of the Korean mindfuck of a film Old Boy, so of course we watched it last night (again) after a massive ceremony around her cute little fire-engine red bong.....

... surreal...that is me after witnessing it again, i was left floored at the cinema when i caught it at the Festival, and once again i was left uttely blown away, such a powerful film on every level, the twisted, warped and stunningly intelligent script, the top-notch acting, especially of the part of the villian, he is so icy-cold and calculating it makes me skin crawl...and the cinematography is glorious, some startling and beautiful images, constructed like a painting and some widly original outlandish set-pieces that seem to mimick old skool Japanese beat em up's that adorn many a takeaway shop.......yes, it is definately one of the best films i have seen all year........

....so apart from watching movies, ive been chilling, still got the elbow on the oh-to-familiar grindstone, still making like Dante Hicks at my Dad's 4-Square conveniance store..., less than two weeks till i head of to PJ Harvey tour though, im so esctatic, ill be like a little kid the morning of my flight....22 years old and still a child, heh, yeah! tongue

...went to another belated Fireworks party on the weekend, although the guys letting them off were nothing sort of complete brain-mashed morons who thought they were hot shit and had ingested way too much cheap manly branded beers and decided that it would be funny to fire them towards the on-lookers at the end, erm, yeah thats really cool!!!...luckily not to much carnage ensued, although i did see a myriad of multi-coloured fire accompanied with high pitched screams and crackles approaching me at a worringly fast velocity......narrowly missing me....even though im a small dude, if that had hit me on account of some random fuckhead, i would have made like Henry Hill and taught him a lesson!!!........hehehe, it normally take a lot to get my blood boiling, but when people put others in harms way of getting burnt by lame-ass fireworks or losing an eye, the inner beast inside me will roar! haha

re-watching Battle Royale tonight...hehe thats a trip of a film too....

peace and karma everyone tongue

Hey, I am reading up on 'Dead Man' by Jim Jarmusch(for a myth class) but I loved the film, and do not know if you have seen it(I am sure you have). But this is an aweseome quote from and interview with him that seems up your alley:
"My job is definitely not to presuppose what the audience wants or expects. Commercial cinema is based on marketing analysis. My job is to make films that those people with whom I chose to collaborate would like to see. The rest of the world has to be ignored completely." J.J.
