Counting bodies like sheep to the rhythm of the war drums...
I started my outprocessing for Iraq today. I got pumped full of vaccines designed to help that really just fuck you up even worse. Smallpox, Anthrax, Typhoid, Chloroquine (anti-malarial). I feel like I got my ass kicked, and then the asskicker gave me the flu just for good measure. I am not deploying to the place I originally was. Somebody apparently opened my training records and saw all my qualifications, now I get to go play with SOCOM for an undetermined amount of time. Having said that I would like to state that I AM NOT a special operator. I just do comm support for them...alot. I like special ops...most of the SEALS/Delta/Ranger/ForceRecon/PJ types are really cool, they have this zen like quality (kind of like Chevy Chase's character in Caddyshack). There are also some raving lunatics in SOCOM. They are pretty easy to pick out, they always act like they are on coke, they laugh a second to late or at all the wrong things. I don't blame them, it's hard to keep that ops tempo for as long as they do and come back all the way. It has been said before (I forget where)that they can teach us how kill but not how to live. Whatever...I am looking forward to leaving. I hate my current station, Germany is cool but where I am sucks right out loud. It feels good to get back in the game also, ever since I got hurt they chained me to a desk and it is slowly murdering my spirit. In conclusion...I hope anyone who reads this feels better than I do right now
