I just ordered the DVD of the new "Battlestar Galactica" Sci-Fi channel mini-series. That's my geek indulgence for the day. I haven't seen it yet, but I consider myself a fan of the unbelievably cheesy original series. I simultaneously cringe at the overwhelming cheesyness and delight in it's low-budget geekdom.
I also got the soundtrack to "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou". But checking out the included list of tracks on that CD leaves me feeling slightly disappointed that some of the most memorable Bowie songs done in Portuguese by Seu Jorge didn't make it to the album. "Space Oddity" and "Rebel Rebel", for example. Bummer.
I know most of you have seen this movie by now. It's quickly become one of my favorites. So cleverly done. And I love the humor style, though I'd be hard-pressed to describe it.
It's taking too long for me to get all my shit together to start working again. Incorporating and such. But I am seriously procrastinating too. I guess it doesn't matter much really. I'm not hard-pressed for money or anything, just don't want to wear out my welcome with the friends I'm crashing with. Can I tell you how nice it is to fuck off for a month and not worry about it hurting you financially? I should make an anual habit of that. Probably going to see about returning my rental car today and just getting one again when I need to go pick up the truck. Not much point in paying $30 a day for a car I am barely using.
