Everyone's gotta start somewhere, right? Well... thus begins the oh-so-fascinating journey of my travels around the country. This morning I'm anticipating a greasy breakfast to-go at the Love's truck stop in Richmond, Indiana. I'll get about as far as Syracuse or Albany today... then tomorrow on to Augusta, ME. I could prolly do the trip in one shot, but not legally. There's no hurry really. Shit, it's only dog food and I'll be there early even if I drove 50 the whole way. Got myself a hotel room up there in Maine for Saturday and Sunday night. I hope the hotel has broadband, because my rediculously overpriced Verizon cellular internet doesn't work in Augusta according to the coverage map. You'd think that for $80 a month you could get online ANY damn place.
It's sad that getting a hotel for a couple nights is actually more restful to me than going "home". I don't spend more than a couple days a month at home (which is currently my sister's place in up-state NY), but there's so much frickin' snow that it makes parking my rig a real pain in the ass. I can't really put it in the driveway, and parking it in the street gets in the way of the snowplows. Living up in the Adirondacks is nice in some ways, but a real bother in other ways.
Over the weekend I'm going to begin looking for condos in eastern CT / south-western Rhode Island. Renting someplace is nothing but throwing money down the crapper since I'm never there... but buying a condo I can justify as an investment (I guess). I've made more money this year than ever before... but this job'll prolly kill me sooner rather than later. Hard career choices. Shoulda been a professional computer geek instead of just an amateur.
Remind me to take a new picture that looks slightly less grumpy.
