"Goodnight"

The tide has turned.
Waves avoid decaying rocks,
and crash back into themselves.
Foam rushes backward,
magnetically reversed
by the light of the moon
imploding.

Star dust sparkles,
distracts with its beauty.
All the while
slicing
my eyes.

A distant door slams
so strongly
my walls shake.

Caressing the key in my pocket
with hot fingertips,
I hesitate only for a moment,
(such a long moment),
and choose to leave it there.
