In response to several requests, here's some of my old poetry. Gawd...this is a couple of decades old now (and it's a rare thing not to have been young and stupid once!) Hope you enjoy (Poe pieces are coming well, BTW).

It was, indeed, an eventful weekend. Yesterday I met with the Curator of the Poe House who took me to see "Nevermore" (snotty review available upon request) and then to a nice dinner.
1) I'm clearly being enlisted as a sort of co-director of the Poe Celebrations
2) We're already confirmed to headline next year's Celebration, and I seem to have some latitude to decide...

thanks for the nice long message AND comment! i understand that home trumps the priorities of naked ladies you've never met, so don't feel bad. i agree that rocky patches make the water more interesting to look at, but i do hope things settle for you soon.
it's funny about the poem you sent... well, not funny and i'm sure this is the most obvious thing to state, but the best part is how you offer these lovely testaments to your feelings for the "you" and then continuously jerk them back. of course all of those things are unreasonable to offer someone, but that doesn't stop half the world from making vague and ridiculous promises. guess love can make us feel superhuman, too....
and thanks for the compliments, but i'll let my pups take all the credit.

Thank you for your lovely comment on my set!

As mentioned, our gig at the Poe Birthday Celebration in Baltimore was a smash this year! (I wrote, designed and directed a theatrical staging of "The Fall of the House of Usher" to sold out audiences and wild applause). It left me with a complete lack of modesty about doing some fine work, And it's started me thinking...

hmmm, time for a new post. i was going to leave you a comment since i don't have the time or the awakeness (operating on 3 hours of sleep plus a full day of both jobs) to respond to your message... but i guess this wil have to suffice.

The fall of the house of usher is my favorite poe tale... behind it is the Gold Bug. I think it's excellent that you're essentially living and breathing poe. I'd do that too if I could, but I can't act. Plus, directing from the creative standpoints of modern art movements is pretty bad ass!
The Poe Birthday Celebration in Baltimore (at Poe's final resting place) was a smash this year! All performances were sold out, and audiences were thrilled. I wrote, designed and directed a theatrical staging of "The Fall of the House of Usher" to wild applause. There was also a live radio drama of "The Cask of Amontillado," and Mr. Poe recited some of his poetry. Very...

Just finished "The Fall of the House of Usher" and "William Wilson" for the Poe House and Museum (how appropriate for Halloween). Good stuff! Plus I've been fortunate to cast three of the finest actors (and human beings) in the area for "House of Usher," which i"m directing for the Poe Birthday Celebration in Baltimore this year. It'll be great to have someone else sweating...

Okay, still sick sick sick. At the ER 'till 3 am Sunday night/Saturday morning. Bunch of tests the Dept. of Health wanted (and paid for). Nothing that serious, certainly nothing fatal. Either Tularemia or something equally obscure. The equivilant of a serious respritory infection. But it does make it tough to earn a living, or finish those Poe scripts which are way behind deadline, or...

thank you! and Fidget went back to his dad when he got back from vacation about two months ago.
Fidge's dad has been super busy with school and work and stuff, so I've only seen him (and Fidge) a couple times since he's been back.

what bugged me a lot in college is discovering that no one really teaches Poe. i get the feeling he is sort of brushed off as kind of amateur or pop-ish. he's simply not mentioned, or if he is, it's a polite nod toward his fiction as the precursor to modern murder/mystery stuff. he was a poet first class! incredible handle on our language even if a lot of it involves morose-type words rarely found outside of funeral homes.
