It's time again for the world's largest Poe Birthday Celebration - January 19 and 20 at Westminster Hall, Poe's final resting place. This year we will present The Murders in the Rue Morgue, along with a presentation of Remembering Poe and Poe In Person. The April 1841 edition of Graham's Magazine forever changed the course of literary history by introducing a new literary form - the detective story. In The Murders in the Rue Morgue, a double murder has been committed, so horrid and gruesome that the whole of the country is in an uproar. The head of the local constabulary is confounded. A brilliant and eccentric detective unravels the case with his immense analytical powers, and the help of his faithful friend and chronicler -- nearly 50 years before Sherlock Holmes made his debut!

The production is Adapted and Directed by John Spitzer, the Costumes are by Azura Hassan, the Assistant Director is Elle Wilhite, the Sound is by Chris Pifer, and the Production Manager is Karen Mitchell. The cast includes Dan Awkward as the Sailor, Ron Ward as Mr. Hart, Elle Wilhite as the Prefect, and Christopher Moss as C. Auguste Dupin. We are pleased and proud to be presenting Dupin's most hair-raising adventure, The Murders in the Rue Morgue as our third consecutive offering at the Poe Celebration.

Also on the program will be Helen McKenna Uff as Poe's friend, love and defender, Sarah Helen Whitman, in her acclaimed one-woman show, Remembering Poe. And there will be an appearance by Poe In Person, as portrayed by David Keltz, plus the traditional Toast to Poe, and much more.
