woke on the right side of the bed. there is some really insipid shit on the tv. oh look, as I'm writing this Johnny Cash used in a Comfort Inn commercial.
the scruff on my face is really bumming me out. I swear I haven't been anywhere near a drug store in a while.
only 2 days left. Champaign, IL and St. Louis, MO. Then I go home and start hustling again.
you creep through the ether....it's mental long distance.

okay, today I'm back in the sunshine. things worked out, though I was in a precious deep sleep @ 830 when the wakeup call came. I jumped out of bed rather than try to fool myself into thinking that it'd be any different to fall asleep for 15 minutes and have another rude awakening. Up too late typing, so anyway...
The coffee this morning at the 'continental' breakfast was not the least bit mysteriously deficient of anything other than the color brown resembling actual coffee. I think it was coffee looking antifreeze or turpintine, except with less flavor. Hee heee -- was my whole life turned around when we got to Newport KY and there was some serious coffee happening. OH MAN!!! It was like I hadn't had any coffee in weeks. So good, I was on fire. Had a smiley afternoon. No worries period. Really. Just a good fucking time. Drank a bunch of Makers after having a mini-feast at this Italian bunker next to the Johnny Rockets. I swear the place was as big as the joint where they tow your car in New York by the Javits Centre or whatever.
Worked on a track and it's totally derivative of Kraftwerk but it's good practice to get it out. I can't wait to get back home and start messing w/this Pharrell acapella track.
The drive today was totally kick ass. It was cool weather all day. I sat shotgun for a while and was mellow, typing an email, checking out the Love Below/Speakerboxxx and some other stuff. Eventually took the wheel to the tune of Erlend Oye and THEN Kool Keith. Good to have Keith back in my life. Everyone was digging on it. I was driving like a maniac. Rad.
Yeah, Kentucky and North GA are pretty nice. Woods and woods and woods. Also some backwoods fucks...sensed much hostility @ these two gas stations today. I don't think it was me projecting, I think these dudes just looked me up and down like an outsider. Don't matter. It was STILL a great drive. Two more shows left. Ready to finish the tour, but as usual, not ready to go home. Have some interesting new prospects I've been talking to someone about after this tour. We'll see, but it's exciting.

...totally indicative of what driving around is like. I narrow my list of priorities down to like 4 things and that's my focus. I ended up thinking about the bit that makes me smile is the bit during the voyage from point a to b, especially when it's stressful. where I'm surprised by a message..too bad SG doesn't work on my phone.
I get connected to certain strings I grab as I move around. I'm sure you understand. keeps you grounded when the ground a few to many hours a day is moving below you at 90mph. Such is it. Still don't like the idea of touring? I've been working on a mental list of pros and cons for ya.
goodnight lovely chilluns.
xo and all that...

I apologize for my tangent journal entry..chardonnay and introspection don't mix very well..or at least not for me.
2 things that can make me wake in the middle of the night in a cold sweat..the place they tow your car by the Javits center and stopping for gas in the deep south..I will elaborate on those at a later time.
In a month or so I will probably find myself in NOLA again..sucking on crayfish and drinking hurricanes, hoping I don't get rolled in some dark alley.
Enjoy your Friday..happy weekend to ya!
