I'm not a huge fan of any religion, but, to each their own. That said, this is no indictment of the catholic church. Once you get past the exclusionary politics, the checkered history of torture and colonialsim, the crimes against children, and the subsequent cover ups, they're basically good people. I don't know a lot about Satanism. If they are promoting evil in the world, I'm against that. If they just think Satan was a cool cat who is misunderstood by history, I'm not exactly on board with that, but more power to them. The imagery, though: goat heads and pentagrams make for much more impressive pageantry than lambs and crosses IMO.
Anyway, when these are the thoughts that bounce around your head and you've got a canvas and some paints, this is the kind of thing you come up with. BTW - the pope in this picture is not Francis- I genuinely think he's awesome (at least compared to his predecessors) - unless what that one cardinal is saying about covering up sex crimes is true - in which case, fuck him.
