I went to dinner with my grandmother, cousin, and sister last night. It was very much needed. Family is very important. For all that have them talk to your grandparents, ask questions of the past. It's important to find out about your families history. It can help give direction to your own life. Last night was very eye opening. It's funny how when you get older you find out about things you never dreamed possible. My grandmother told all of our family secrets last night and let me tell you it wasn't what I expected. Alot of it could be seen as very damaging but for better or worse it's part of our past. It helps explain alot about why the older generation of my mother is the way they are, in my family I mean. It just goes down to how you deal with events in your life, the choices you make. How you choose to deal with problems can drastically change your life. I can see it by looking at my uncles and aunts and my own mother. But beside family secrets there is a vast amout of experience with in our grandparents. The stories they tell are invaluble. So i guess the key is to ask question and listen you might be suprised what you find out, good or bad.

totally. i found out some really cool family secrets this past summer along with the possibility of more unrevealed secrets, some of which may die with the few remaining relatives of the older generations. it's all very fascinating. you can't get to bummed about it. it is part of your history, right. had the events not taken place you wouldn't be around to enjoy hearing them sad or happy stories. i need to learn more.

I liked your entry a lot hon. I feel the same way about my family, even though there is a lot that went on, it's amazing what you learn. Ex: My grandparents eloped because they were an interracial couple! You'd never even think.

Happy New Years! *big hugs*

What are you doing tonight?

YOU HAD BETTER GET THAT PIC UP! wink

PS enjoy family while you can
