So for this weeks homework @missy and @lyxzen asked "What was your first concert?" So sit back grab some popcorn and enjoy the ride.
When I was 12 I use to believe in my father's religion which was Christianity. I never strayed from it, I still attend church (sometimes) and I still believe in God. There was a station we use to listen to all the time which was Air1, I even to this day still listen to it they play uplifting rock music and I enjoy it. My father heard from a couple friends of his that every year there is a festival that goes on in Laguna Secca which if you're from Monterey CA knows it lies between Salinas and Monterey. Here they host a three day festival for Spirit West Coast which plays uplifting rock, metal, pop and well as worship music for bands like Skillet, Newsboys, Relient K, Kutless, Thousand Foot Krutch, etc etc. My dad decided we should go check it out since we listen to all those bands, and it would be a new experience for me and the rest of the family. We headed out there one weekend afternoon, and driving bumper to bumper on gravel for about an hour to find parking started to take a toll on the kids, especially me because concerts didn't seem like a great time to me. Finally walking up to the line for ticket, I could finally hear people cheering and music blaring up from where we were standing; anticipation, excitement, and nervousness started to fill me. I didn't know what to expect I've never done this before. I remember pulling at my fathers pant legs telling him hurry I want to go down there and see everything. We eventually got the tickets and off flying my sisters and I went, we waited at the entrance where we had to show our wristbands for our parents to catch up, and again down the hill we went. To my left there were carnival games, and bouncy houses and a huge tent where artist were selling their work, as well as signing. Then to my right were sponsors selling clothes, products, food vendors, prayer tents and a huge stage right in the middle of it all. There were a few smaller stages surrounding the venue and each stage has it's own name like the Air1 stage, or K-love. Also off a little ways was a place where children like me can pet animals, get our faces, painted or become committed to Christ. It was amazing, this was amazing all of it was just to surreal. We ended up seeing 8 or so bands that day and to this day I can distinctly remember how much fun I had, how I would jump around and get lost in a mosh pit filled of older, sweaty teenagers. After going home that day I knew before I fell asleep that music was going to always be close to me, and my heart would forever be finding life in a festival.
Now to this day I sponsor, and promote for festivals whether they be music or tattoos I love them all. I love the gathering of people for one goal and being united together brings me peace.
My first concert will always be my favorite.
