Warning this blog contains spoilers to Breaking Bad episode Full Measures, and Dexter episode The Getaway.
Its been a month since the first part of this blog and the mouth dropping season finally of Breaking Bad but Ive just been to busy to post my thoughts and reactions to it and how it stacked up to my two other favorite shows on the net. On a side note before I get started Ill have you know I got two of my friends, Amanda and Jeremy, to start watching Breaking Bad, now back to the show. When Dexters pre season finally show ended the typical on next weeks Dexter came on and it showed a lot of what would happen in the finale, but the text overlays kept saying that it would end and leave you breathless, well it did. I remember the night Dexter finally kills Arthur Mitchell a scene we all waited for but not really a breathtaking scene as promised, and then we get to the end and we see Rita laying in a bath of blood dead, Harrison sitting in the blood that lay on the floor crying. A truly breathtaking scene as promised, and one that goes down as one of the most shocking season finales on television. Breaking Bad didnt go that far I dont really remember the next week on Breaking Bad preview but I believe it said something about it changing everything, and well it did.
Half Measures ended on the biggest holy shit moment of the entire season, Walt running over the drug dealers and then shooting the living one in the face point blank, but what could change everything when Walt just did that himself. Well when Full Measures started we met Walt in full Heisenberg gear meeting with Gus about his killing of Guss dealers. The episode went on Mike looking for Jesse in Virginia, and Walt working in the lab with Gale and then we learned the severity of the situation. Gus went to visit Gale at his home and pressured Gale on when he would be ready to take over for Walt, and subconsciously urging him to say, after one more cook, and thats when it clicked, Gus is going to have Walt killed. Walt kept his ace in the hole if you will as Jesse was actually hiding out at a Lazer Tag arena, them two planning on killing Gale so they wouldnt die. The final moments in the episode were so intense that I was literally on the edge of my seat. Walt sitting on the couch holding his daughter preparing to go kill Gale when he left, to him leaving the house and one of Guss men picking Walt up and saying there was a chemical spill in the lab, to finally being at the lab and Walt begging Mike to not kill him and saying he will give up where Jesse is. I was shocked, Walt is bitching out, hes going to give them Jesse, why would he do that. Then he called Jesse and I sat there mouth dropped, Walt is really giving them Jesse, and he did something out of desperation, he told Jesse they were going to kill him and that Jesse had to go kill Gale. Then in typical Walt fashion he stood there stone faced and told them that he knew where Gale lived and that Jesse was going to kill him so they needed Walt to continue to cook for them, where does Gale live you might ask, 6353 Juan Tabo Apt 6.
The last five minutes of the episode were the most truly deep and tense moments of any show, the camera on Jesse as he points the gun at Gale tears forming in his eyes, then the last second you hear a gunshot and the screen goes black episode over, season finale more jaw dropping than a dead Rita in a bath of blood. The reason this ending means more to me than Dexters is that Dexter could have killed Arthur many times throughout the season but with Breaking Bad we see Jesse say he is the bad guy but never able to actually pull it off, Jesse is the innocent in a world of evil and he now had to do something evil to save Walt. Also who knows where it goes from here, Guss men went to go to Gales house, how does Jesse escape, what happens with Walt? Dexter left me with questions and I cant wait for the answers but I cant shake that Breaking Bad has taken the place of Dexter in my life for some reason, Dexter is an amazing show but Breaking Bad has just that little bit more. Either way these are two absolute amazing and entertaining shows that make television today an amazing medium.
