I just got back from a meeting for work and i'm so glad that I won't have to worry about Paul or Terrance when I am gone. Martin the new house manager seems like he really cares, he is a little excitable and imposing but he really cares about BOTH the clients and those of us that take care of them. It feels good to be seen as a good employee again and I am actually looking forward to my last month of working at the Center.
For those of you that don't know I work with two clients who are Autistic in a residential care facility (ie. in their home). Its a great job but the program I work for was the biggest crock of shit I have ever seen, no clear guidelines, like twenty different bosses and twenty different ways of taking care of the same two clients who were obviously a little confused by all the chaos. I have been viciously defending my shift and keeping all the shit out of it so i knew that for atleast 8 hours, 5 days a week they were provided for but its nice to know that it isn't my responsibility any more. Its nice to knowthat I can leave and go work back home and not feel like I have abandoned them, which is a real danger when you get so attached to your job. I realized last night that 80% of the smiling I do, I do at work. Terrance and Paul are two very difficult clients but god damnit they are people too and they are good people and they can be so adorable, amd fun, and sweet and no one gives them credit. This is all great news. two days from now, at this exact moment I should be driving Poison to see Quinne after a couple of hours of cuddling and making kissy faces.
I'll drink to that...
Edited to say: Mmmmm Elvis Costello...
