Went out today looking for some art books and found a really nice one about the shift emphasis in illustration from being dominantly a "reproduce this idea literally" industry to the modern interpretive illustrations of David Mack and James Jean which are much closer (and often indistinguishable from) what we call Fine Art. I set the book on the rack next to the men's room door so I could use the bathroom without pissing all over the thing while aiming. Upon my return, an overly zealous employee had snatched the book and placed it in the back room making it impossible to access. I was miffed cause it was the only one on the shelf. I realize I could have asked someone to go and get it, but it was not worth the time and effort....

While in the men's room I noticed some awfully interesting graffiti on the walls...

Little Cigarette Boy here was drawn on the sanitary seat cover holder above the toilet.


Stencil Face was on the stall door.


After all of my frustration about my art book, I went off to drink my sorrows away with a tasty iced mocha...


I left for home and noticed the Chinese Magnolia tree in my front yard was blooming so I snapped this lovely shot...


All in all my day is moving along nicely. The warm weather here in Chicago-land is inspiring. Let's hope it doesn't snow again anytime soon...
