I've said it once, and I'll say it again:
FUCK UNIVERSITY STUDIES.
I was happy yesterday because my textbooks were relatively cheap, which meant that finishing up my chest piece by early February was a realistic goal waiting to happen. Today, my U.S. teacher informed us that we need to purchase 3 more books and a compiled packet from Kleen Copy.
The cost of the packet? ONE HUNDRED AND TEN DOLLARS. In number form, that is $110, just for the goddamned packet. This is not including the price of the other 3 books, which total something around $80. Does anyone else find this obscene and immoral? I am so sick of dropping significant loads of cash on books I will never, ever use again, and I think it's wrong for large publishing companies to charge students, who are generally poor already, that much for books. I am also extremely frustrated with my University Studies teacher, for assuming that we all have $110 to spend on anything, let alone a 50-page packet that we can never, ever return. It's bullshit.
I refuse to buy any of the books for the class, since I spent a shitload last term and we only used the most expensive book like, twice. So what I'm going to do is check the books out from the library every time we use them for homework, and borrow the packet from another student who can actually afford it and just photocopy everything. This breaks a variety of copywrite laws regarding the packet, but I just don't care enough to spend the money.
I'm turning into quite the thrifty Jew. And now I'm going to end this entry with a comical "oivey!"
