I'm trying to understand todays hippy. I'm all for world peace, and can understand self-imposed dietary restrictions. I don't really understand the lack of hygiene, but that's a personal choice that I can at least attempt to rationalize as a form of self-expression (I know just as many right-winged French people that have a similar hygiene regiment). What I don't understand is the lack of rationale of a given argument, followed by the typical passive-aggressive extreme-liberal rhetoric and defending the stated argument without going through the logic required of any debate.

Does being opposed to the currently installed government entail hugging trees? Does opposing the impending bombing of Iraq require being a member of a drum circle? Does being a liberal require a bleeding heart as well?

Maybe Im just a bit perturbed because one of the local WashPIRG cronies tried to guilt me into contributing to their current environmental cause even though Ive already given generously to other non-profit organizations that I support in terms of money and time. Didnt they get the memo that money is tight all over, and most people have barely enough resources to support themselves? Its not that I dont agree with their cause, its just that I have nothing more to give in terms of time and money.

I have worked hard for what I have for many years, and I dont need a granola-muncher on a trust-fund telling me to give even more when they barely give of themselves. It almost makes me empathize with some of the homeless kids on Capitol Hill that beg for change out in front of Taco Bell underneath the help wanted sign before their parents pick them up in the Beamer before taking them back home to Bellevue or Mercer Island. Almost.

agreed.... homeless kids on Cap Hill, what a fucking joke.. Lord knows I've given more that I should, as far as "help" goes.. there is one chick in particular, the one with about 6 or 7 piercing in her face, that has been "Looking for a Punk Miracle" or some shit for at least a year.. get a fucking job, get the fuck off Broadway.. you're not fooling anyone... you've been here for a while now... *sigh*... sorry.. I've been one to help out the "Punk Rock Street Urchins" for a long time, but its starting to get old.. (again, sorry, I'm wasted right now..lol)

I whole heartedly agree. I as well have helped out far too many people than I think I should have, that are homeless for no better reason than to be lazy. I have helped out others, whom once in a rational conversation got their shit together and began respecting themselves once more.
I don't think that being apart of the new age hippis has anything to do what so ever with helping the world. Sure it's wonderful to sing under the moon with a drum circle spinning fire. I do it myself, wouldn't mind finding more people around here to do it with. But it doesnt mean that acting like monkee's , pardon the expression, is going to change the way thousands of people are living habitually in ways that are harmfull to the ozone. I being one of them do eat the occasional fast food, dear lord somebody save my soul! some truck driver was polluting while delivery food there, shit i'm a sinner, but were all sinners. Not one god damned individual to my belief is a saint. If they have done anything saint like than we've been living in an evil shell for too long and havent listen to what our internal feelings are saying, about mother earth vs what mother culture has to say.

bty it sounds like you'd really know how to make the date wink tell me more about what foods you'd cook with duck and wine.

peace out!
